Hi guys...

New to the forum and also Mercedes ownership. My choice of first Merc is a 2002 c230k sport hatch.

Its a really great little car that I've loved owning so far over the last 2 months. Great power with some really good handling (compared to my old corsa)

Just saying hi the the group as no doubt I will be asking advice at some point in the near future.

So far I have changed the in car entertainment to a touch screen system which is a massive upgrade from the cassette player it had before with many more upgrades to follow. Oil change done and new pads and dicks all round.

Having a good background in vehicle repair there are very little issue that worry me but are there any major issues that I should look for in the future that I should look out for?

Thanks

Looking forward to seek advice and wisdom of the group.

Welcome! A few bits of the top....

The first thing to get on top of is all the oil and fluid changes.
Engine (you've done), brakes bled by a specialist with STAR possibly, engine coolant and gearbox oil (for both of these use genuine from Merc to make sure you get the right ones), rear diff oil.

I had a C320 2004 Coupe (w203, which I assume is the same one you have). I replaced all rear suspension arms, bushes, subframe mounts, shocks, springs. Transformed the manners on the rear and gave it a lot more grip. The subframe will need dropping to remove the bolts that hold the upper, forward most rear arm on each side.

Get the tracking properly checked.

Get the timing chain checked.

If it's not had one, you will be due a new battery.

If the headlights have gone yellow and cloudy, you can remove them (take bumper off first), sand with 600 grit wet and dry (and a little water), remove all the yellowing, clean down and spray with an aerosol of 2k clear coat to protect from UV. The paint flattens sufficiently on 600 grit paper that the finish is crystal clear. There is no need to polish if you are spraying with 2k clear coat. Some time and £20 to sort.

If it has the pano roof, search the forum for recent info on servicing the roof tracks to keep clean and prevent it breaking.

Blend motors for flaps in the dash can break. £15 for a second hand unit of ebay. Up to 15 hours to replace it.

Welcome. :) 👍
