New member still finding my feet and would appreciate some advice please on access to threads

Sorry, nope still don't get it 🤔😇
You've been here too long MissyD.
You've become immune to the excitement of seeing there's a new post. :p

*Edit...even if it's another rambling musing from the pen of Spiky

100% agree and understand, always get folks trying to make a quick sell and/or get free advertising.
Have you tried replying in the Off topic forum to any posts?

There should be no reason why you cannot post there.

Plus I can only see 20 posts against your name

As said, some areas do not count and sometimes Admin remove posts that are just there to boost numbers

The only area you cannot access is direct messaging I think?

So, as asked by others why the rush? 🤔

Have you read these.? :

Yes, 3 times and It doesn't mention about a 30 day delay about access or the 30 posts, the later is in a banner towards the top of the page, but no mention of the former, perhaps that should also be included: just a thought. 🤔

I did notice the 'Terms and rules' had a bit of a quirky numbering system though ..,

Anyway, regardless of that I thought I would I also checked out the other sections too but nothing there either:

I have tried to access 'Off topic' but there is none, instead the message I see is this:

Yesterday I had a count of over 30 posts and today I see that has dropped back down to early twenties, so I can only assume I have been penalised by admin for some reason like you say, all starting to feel a little deflating.

The 'rush' is purely down to enthusiasm and excitement and no other ulterior motive or hidden agenda, I did try but apparently failed to explain this to MissyD in post #17, but I have to say that is wilting somewhat now.

As has been explained.

Posting for the sake of getting to 30 to try to release privileges will often see Admin delete such posts.

There are terms and conditions of use placed upon membership of the Forum for good reason that have also been explained to you .

Why do you see it as it being "deflating" etc? Achieving 30 relevant posts and having 30 days of membership should allow you to access all areas in the same way all of us have had to do so.

It’s sad to say, but being honest when you notice a new member posting away as much as this it almost always seems like they’re just trying to get 30 posts to sell something - which is what I assumed when I noticed the OPs posting so much recently.

Yep, TBF, it has been known just once or twice before. Not nearly as annoying though as the One Post Wonders, who come on looking for advice, get it (or don't hear what they want to hear) and are never seen again.

Plus advertising a meeting in Devon. All innocent I am sure but the complaining about the forum rules etc is a little uncalled for.

I understand it had been explained, and sorry for the repetition, no offence meant, I was merely answering your question(s).

I am beginning to understand that perhaps you don't get many enthusiastic new members joining in the same way as myself, the deflation is just down to gaining and losing post counts, thinking I had access and then not, a bit like being given something nice only to have it taken away again, that's all, nothing sinister I assure you.

I do absolutely understand that rules are there for good reason and am 100% behind abiding by them, but you misunderstand my reasoning behind the mentioning of the terms and conditions and highlighting of the points I noticed, you asked me if I had read the said terms and conditions in two posts and showed me an image I presume so I new what you were referring to. I was again just answering that question and adding what I had noticed about them, as finding it a little odd for such a prestigious forum that's all, I suspect they have been like that for a while, and it might have been appreciated to have been pointed out so that something could have been done if deemed necessary, however it seems I have put my big foot in it as it has been taken badly where no offence or harm was meant I can assure you of that. If you knew me a little better, you would know I am not the sort of person to blow my own trumpet, point a finger, be disruptive or hurtful to anyone, just a bit too excitable for most tastes I guess.

With regards to the car meet in Devon, I tried to put it in the events section, I don't get out very much at all, it was the first time I had taken myself off and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are very few car events down my way and I wanted to share it with car nuts like my self ... simple as that really ... nothing more nothing less.

It's fine, I was just joking with you, sorry.

If you stay around for a bit, you'll get to know I never really take things seriously.
Thank you for that, won't be the first time I have got things wrong.
