Just wanted to say hi all. Have just brought myself a (51 plate) 316cdi sprintshift to tow my trailer and hopefully convert part of it into a motorhome... Looking forward to find out as many hints and tips as i can on here :thumb:

Hello and welcome :thumb:

I see you have bought the 'Daddy' of the Sprinters.... Very wise choice;)

Welcome aboard. :thumb:

A 316. The 270cdi is a nice engine.

From a personal view, the Sprintshift box is nice while it is functioning well but can be expensive to fix if it goes wrong, if taken to a main dealer. The schedule states an ATF change for the box at 160,000 miles. At around £150 it's something to consider doing, esp if the van has high mileage.

A big thankyou to everyone for the welcome :thumb:

I,ve gone from Transits to a van that pulls like a train and doesn't seem to want to stop lol (except when it gets to just above 70) Are these vans limited?

ringway......... Thanks for the info about the ATF. It's done 203k and had a new box at 96k.

trapperjohn.... Me a Spurs fan!!!!! What gave you that idea lol :thumb:

You own Tower Hamlets Fried Chicken, don't you?

Your Sprinter should have plenty left at 70mph with 159BHP.

IIrc The Srinters (regardless of engine size) were limited to 93mph. Although I'm sure many have the restriction removed. 93mph is fast enough for any van though.

Just wonderered if it has a limiter to that speed and how can i tell? Only reason is, is that i'm taking it out to germany in a couple of weeks and i want to get it going on the autobahn:thumb:
