Hey guys,

Just bought my new to me 2015 E63 so thought I'd join here and read through some past threads and hopefully learn lots. Its my first Merc, previously had Citroen, Alfa Romeo, Honda's, Mitsubishi and BMW's and so far loving what the E63 offers.

I haven't been able to find a section for member build threads, is there one?

Welcome!

Thanks guys.

I already have a question that I hope you guys can help with

I have a dashcam that I want to install, I have looked around the site and I can't find a solution that doesn't involve using the fuse box in the engine bay or splicing the cigarette lighter wires. I am going to take the dashboard panel from the passenger side off tomorrow and check to see if I can piggyback a fuse from there, it would be great if someone has already done it and can confirm which fuse to use.

Another idea was to run the wire to the fuse panel in the boot, however, I don't have folding rear seats so it makes it a little trickier.

I went down to see a car that I had put a deposit on without seeing. Was a relatively early start, that didn't go too smoothly as I went to St Pancras instead of Paddington. Don't ask lol. No idea why I thought it was from St. Pancras, however, I made it back to Paddington station and on the train with 10 mins to spare so wasn't too bad.

I got to Exeter and was collected at the station and taken to the dealership to view the new car inside the showroom. It was veiled which was a nice touch as was the 'reveal' and I must admit, I was instantly in love. It has so much presence and purpose, it would have to be a very bad test drive for me not to buy it. Thankfully, the test drive was great and I signed a few pieces of paper, emptied my bank account and then drove home in a delightful 5.5l V8 biturbo.

It really does feel like a Jekyll and Hyde car. It is so comfortable and composed, can almost forget you are in an *63 AMG but then plant your foot and its acceleration is sheer brutality.

I have only done 200ish miles but so far, I am over the moon with it.

Because of the time of year etc I've not managed to get any great pictures so these will have to do for now:

Perfect, thank you! I don't have enough posts yet but good to know where to put my build thread eventually. Not looking to make any drastic changes as I have a warranty that I don't want to invalidate.

Anyone got any ideas regarding the post about dash cam install via a piggyback fuse?

Spent the morning yesterday giving the car a quick clean and realised how detailed the front bumper is. I am mulling over adding some more black as I like the black accent but feel theres too much silver, but will have a play in Photoshop and see if I can introduce some black without ruining the design/look.

Very nice indeed. I gather you bought it from the MB dealer in Exeter, I must say they present their cars well and after purchasing my SLK from them I certainly would not hesitate to buy a used car from them again.

Thank you. Yes I did and yes they presented it beautifully and were a pleasure to deal with. Only slight disappointment was that the engine low warning came up on the way home, I think given how many 'checks' they do, they dropped the ball a little there but they were good in having that rectified.

Should have said that although when my wife signed all the paperwork she asked if they had Mot'd and serviced the car as they had promised, yes they said so she didn't check every piece of paper , just signed the required paperwork.
Got home and discovered they had put my name on the V5 , had to return it and got hassle from our insurance company while we waited for the new correct V5.
Two days later they rang me, can we send a delivery driver to collect the car as we have forgotten to service and MOT it! No was my response , why would I want 350 miles added to the 18600 miles the car has covered in 7 years! After a hassle 24 hours later they agreed to cover the cost of having it done at my local dealer .
Despite the admin fiasco however the key thing is the car has been brilliant , drives as well as it looked and other than an update for the exhaust software has been 100 % reliable for 10 months and about 5k miles, touch wood!

Welcome, what fantastic motor you've got there, and great pics too. :D

So currently just looking at what I can change to personalise it a little more to my liking/spec. Currently thinking of retrofitting a reverse camera, illuminated sills and the illuminated front badge/star. No particular order and definitely not in a rush, but would appreciate any links to any DIYs and part numbers etc.

And thoughts on the below:

Make certain parts of the bumper black as well as the bonnet stripe.

Currently on the hunt for a carbon fibre roof spoiler. Has anyone got one and have a seller that they can recommend?

Hello and welcome!

Definitely NOT the bumper stripe  The black extra bumper yes :)
Yeah I think the bonnet stripe is a little too bold for me, however, I am keen on having all the chrome wrapped in gloss black as well as adding a few more black accents to the front bumper. Won't be any time soon though as I need to insure the beast this month and its not cheap.
