New Mercedes Buying Experience

What is there to discuss? MB don't offer what you want, so go elsewhere!

I can recommend Lexus :thumb:

How dare you !

Off with his head , this internet Detective !

I got a nice E320 cdi for sale !

I had one before. I tend to prefer running a newer car hence my interest in the new shape model.

I heard BMW are taking orders for the new 5 series. I may look at their car instead. I already have one already but it's just a play thing.

Huh?

Who's Steve and what has that got to do with my ordering of a new car.

Too small. Needs to be E class sized. A 5 series it probably will be unless Mercedes will change the way cars are built.

They seemed more interested in selling me a PCP deal than they did trying to help me build the car.

What about a Jaguar XF?

I really like the old one but the new shape style wise does nothing for me. But it is a very good suggestion and there would be no issue getting a large diesel engine without having to take an air suspension system.

Edit. Anyone tried a Maserati Ghibli. I suspect I should be able to secure one for my budget.

I've had a 440i as a courtesy car and it was appalling the dials in the dashboard looked from a vauxhaul vivaro the silver appointments around the gearshift looked from a Renault megane from the 90's what a bag of .... they manage to produce...

Lol is this thread going to get interesting, or closed?

Why would it be closed. It is about the purchasing of a brand new Mercedes. There have been some very odd comments on this thread for sure and I am not sure what they are about. I've been a member of a number of forums and never been greeted in this way on an opening post. I don't know if that is the MB CLub way or whether there is a larger problem in general.

Call it a hunch :thumb:

But I have been wrong before.......was a Wednesday I think.

I would hope that people are smart enough to calculate the cost of PCP before signing on the dotted line... but it's coming very popular... another ppi scandal looming...

Thank you for trying to help me, but my name isn't Steve.
No probs, if you want a 5, I'm really friendly with eastern BMW in Edinburgh and could get you a good deal.

People will see the actual price and be unable to afford it but when they can have it for £500 per month - it suddenly becomes affordable - until the point for whatever reason they cannot make the payments any longer and go into arrears and negative equity.

A lot of buy to let mortgage types came unstuck when they started buying up new builds and the property was worth less than they paid.

Thanks, that is very kind of you.

I don't live anywhere near Edinburgh though. I do know the dealer you mean though, I nearly bought a second hand 7 series out of there as the price was really good but I didn't like the black interior.

List price is just north of £60k but there are plenty of pre registered ones for your £50k budget.

Plenty about in non-Teutonic colours too.

There is that. The E class I drive has a lovely cream interior. It has sports suspension (non air) with lovely lacquered black wood. It is really nice cabin actually. Sadly it is a silver. They call it Palladium but its really a dark grey with a lovely blue hue. It suits the car well.

The newer car is a big improvement - it drives a lot better and the cabin is a masterstroke. It's a lovely place to spend time. The new transmission has 9 forward gears and it's an improvement over the one in my car which whilst is fine, this one is perfect.

I just don't want an airmatic one nor do I want the all black inside. It's a shame as a main car an E class is good car. I could order the E class in a dark blue exterior paint, and a cream interior is possible on an SE line but I'd be stuck with air suspension and seats without the extendable thigh support. I am quite tall and such a feature I would really like.

I think it will be an M sport 5 series.
