It will be an upgraded version of the Smart with a little quirk. It will be called "Smirk".


Mitsubishi already make the low-floor version. I saw one on the road the other day and it had an A-Class roofline and a low floor. Next to my A-class it was remarkably similar so there is some chance those engines will go to Japan too.

Do you mean Mitsubishi Colt? Smart ForFour was built in the same factory and shares some components.

We have one, and also have a Honda Jazz (Fit). I wouldn't really have compared them to A Class, although there isn't a huge difference (apart from price).

That's a very crowded market and, while I appreciate that MB might need to do this for emissions reasons, small cars rarely make money.

Unfortunately there always are. Most end up losing them shed loads of money like the R class, the Chrysler deal and the Smart cars.
