Not something I've done for a long time but have bought a private plate for the SL and want to buy the plates. Where is best to do this? Used Halfords before but is it best to got to the dealer and get Mercedes ones (presuming they do this?). Have all the DVLA docs. Just need the physical plates to put on the car.

Its all a matter of personal preference, but I put pressed aluminium plates on my CLK and rather like the ever so slightly 'Germanic' appearance. Fitting is easy, as long as you put a modest bend in the middle of the front plate to cope with the plinth's curve.

These are the ones I bought:

They look terrific, had no idea they existed for UK cars.

I did the same last weekend. Cheapest online that were legal were £25 including postage (plates4cars or some such) and my local dealer wanted £27 so went there. Did them while I waited, no dramas.
