W208 CLK 320 Avantgarde - Yamaha R6
Hi all, I have recently picked up my CLK W208 320 Avantgarde and it has come with the six spoke 16" alloys. I was wanting to change these to the 5 spoke AMG alloys which are staggered tyre sizes. From reading about them there are various options on sizes.

Can you please let me know what the size alloy and offset I should go for and the tyre size for the front and rear.

Many thanks in advance all :D

Hi there ....

7.5 x 17 et 37 with 225/45/17 tyre for the front

8.5 x 17 et 30 with 245/40/17 for the rear

Usually a set or two on Ebay , around £300 needing a refurb and new tyres , or £600/700 for all done with new boots.

Welcome on board.

Thanks mate. I guess 17" are recommended over 18" as I don't want the ride to be too harsh.

The correct AMG's for the 208 CLK are 17's ....

People do put 18's and 19's on them though.

We have a set of 18's for the blue car in my signature , and the ride is appreciably firmer than the ride in the red car ( which is on 17's ) ...

We also have a set of 19's for the blue car , but you need to keep your osteopath on speed dial if we put these on as it is bone shaking.

Would you recommend the 17" over the 18"

I have new tyres all round on the 16" on the clk as the previous owner had just done it. I wanted 17" but the car was too good to not take it because of the wheels. I am after a set of staggered 17" though

That is exactly what I am after, may have an offer for those I think. Thank you very much

Cheers Howard, much appreciated, picked them up today, £275 and they are perfect, absolute bargain :-)

I'm after a set of those. I don't really like the 18's on mine.

Won't get them on until Saturday but they will vastly improve the looks instead of the six spoke 16" that are on at the moment.
Also really wanted the staggered look and genuine AMG. Spent ages looking and then Howard found them last night fate I had about given up, picked them up this afternoon, so happy I got them, i think 17" is the happy medium between style, looks and comfort

Blimey !! £275 is a great price for those .....

Well done ! They'll look great.

Post some piccys please when you get them on .

Many thanks Howard, great find by you and just down the road from me. The alloys are in superb condition, slight kerbing on a couple but hardly noticeable, and more importantly, staggered fitment with new tyres and official AMG not cheap copies :-)

The guy was moving house so had to get rid of them, wasn't interested in pricing them for there value, just wanted rid of them, happy days for me!

Thanks again, just goes to show that forums really do work for us!!!!

Did the wheels come with longer bolts?

No bolts with the wheels, will I need new ones? The existing wheels are 16" six spokes as standard, will I be able to swap them straight over, I haven't had a chance to look at them yet, was going to do it at the weekend or beginning of next week.

For the 17" AMG alloys i've just purchased, what length bolt should I be using?
Thanks

When i went from the 6 spokes on my old 320 cabrio i used the same bolts , and again on my 430 ...

Don't think the bolt length is any different.

You don't want the bolts to be too long or they will damage the shoes inside the hub.

As with everything , i'm just a bloke on the internet and could be wrong ;)

Best bet is to try them . If you only get one half of a turn of thread holding the wheel on , you'll probably need new bolts ;)

Mine have been off and on at Ollys place ( Black c55 ) and numerous tyre fitters etc and no one had ever told me they were too short. I think locking wheel bolts are only one length too.

You used to need longer bolts on some cars if you were altering the offset considerably , but i think on the CLK using OEM AMG wheels you will be fine.

Just to re-iterate ..... see line 1 ;)
