Hi Guys
I have been a member for a few weeks now in the backgroundb reading through all the threads.
Unfortunatly I think I need some of your experience, I now own a 1997 C200 W202 5 spd auto. It started just after purchase and had a flat battery several times and it was summat not closing down after the car was locked. Something to do with the closing of the windows with the remote anyway that sorted. But I have now started dulling interior lights especially when alarm is set with the curtisy lights still on. Also after entering car and starting the red light on internal mirror blinks once about every minute for about 15 mins and very occasionally theb ABS flashes on momentarally. I have been around most of the earth points cleaned them and checked all relays and fuses for security.
Hope you guys can help me sort this problem
Many thanks
Ted

Think you need a new battery if you havn't renewed it already. The symptoms would indicate a low 12 volt supply. Other possibility is a problem with your alternator control unit. This could lead to the alternator not charging the battery correctly or the battery discharging thro a faulty diode when the car isn't running. Any good auto electrician should be able to check this out for you. Replacing the alternator control unit shouldn't be too expensive if its faulty.

Had batter checked when had flat battery they said it was ok ( but that was then ) so will have it checked again as its apparently still under warrenty and get the alt unit checked
Thanks guys

Do not ask the supplying garage to test this battery, go to a somewhere that is completely independant :)

Hi again guys
Took car to auto electrician to check battery and alternator both perfect and he was also able to check ABS no faults found. But this guy found that the ABS relay was at fault, now he says it was caused by the car being jump started. His explination is that by jump starting a mercedes can cause this to happen.
Is this true or am I being led up the perverbial garden path
