As above but i fear on the slowest setting it is spinning far too fast to be used with the sponges to apply polish. i think it will just fling straight off and also burn my beautiful paintwork. Says 600 RPM on the slowest setting but im sure its spinning far far faster than that. I think it will be fine in buffing mode though. Your thoughts guys if you please. Cheers, Tony.

can you not slow it down with the pressure you apply?
and i still buff off by hand.

Tony.

Hi Tony. It has a very powerful motor and doesn't slow down at all when pressure is applied. Looks like another ebay disaster is looming. Oh Dear.

Tony to be honest with the quality of your paint work i dont know why you did not just get a das6 D/A!

Tony.

the das6 dual action was not in my budget i'm afraid

I've just come from a DAS 6 to a rotary, the rotary is leagues above the performance of a DAS 6 and I bought a cheap Silverline one in case I did not get on with it but all this about burning through the clear coat and paint is garbage. It takes me a third of the time to do a car using the rotary with far better results :thumb:

well i have tried my polisher and exactly as i thought its spinning far to fast even on the slowest setting. its no where 600 RPM on the slowest setting as it says on the box so really peed off now. Flanaia, how fast does yous spin and does it throw the polish everywhere ???. Cheers, Tony.

I've use my DAS-6 polisher to apply Meg's Ultimate wax and had no problem. Slowest speed is approx 2.5k rpm. The Megs dual action polisher runs at about 1.8k rpm and Meg's recommend it's use with Ultimate wax. So there shouldn't be an issue?

What pads are you using? I'm using Hexlogic green pads, works great..

It has a soft start and on slow it is quite slow, I put 4 blobs of polish on the pad, spread it about on the panel I'm doing hit start and slowly build up the speed even on it's fastest its still controllable and does not throw polish everywhere. If its the Silverline it only does 3000 rpm max. I know the DAS 6 and Megs G220 are different action but dont they go up to something like 6000 rpm, so maybe you have a faulty unit or different model to mine, whats the model number on yours?

well on the slowest speed it just flings the polish everywhere. Not a happy chappy.

I do similar, usually squirt a "cross" on the pad, place the pad in contact with the panel and switch on. Don't get anything thrown out from the pad.

Try applying the polish to the pad and moving across all the surface to cover it.
Start the polisher on the car surface and also turn it of on whilst still on the surface.
Does it not have a speed control?

Well I've cut my pads down to 5 inches diameter to slow the speed on the outside foam surface down and having reduced the speed and holding down on surface before starting polisher really helps. A little bit of patience is required i have to say. I still prefer the hand technique though. Anyone want a cheap polisher with 3 sponges and a buffing pad ????.Tony.

Sorry mate but if you decrease the outer circumference it is travelling less distance in one revolution so has to be spinning slower. Sorry if i sound pig headed.

If you press the pad 4-5 times on the work area before starting you should have very minimal polish splatter. Keep your work area small. 18" x 18" ish
