New SLK250 125 edition - Bit of a mix up at the dealership!

Are the badges easy to remove? Thought about that with mine, can't believe MB charge not to put the badge on! Thanks

Very easy...will need:-

1. Heat gun/hairdryer;
2. Dental floss;
3. Something to get the glue residue off;
4. Polish to tidy up the outline that will be left.

Heat the badge up gently, run the dental floss at rear of badging, put glue remover onto a makeup type cotton pad, apply and leave it for a minute or two and take residual glue off. Polish up and job is a goodun:-

Thanks all :)

Just don't try and remove the Mercedes star badge as its got two locking pins behind it meaning you'd need to either fill the gaps and repaint (nightmare), or get one of those fancy AMG badges with the same pin fitment!

I had create. Leather in my last car and loved it, worst thing to mark it though was my wife's blue jeans. Mine didn't but every pair she wore would leave blue staining. Always came off with a good leather cleaner.

Got light cream leather in the Q3 and Jean staining is the worst problem, although easily sorted as I bought a tub of the Armor All Leather disposable wipes in Halfrauds, every couple of weeks a good wipe over with a few sheets and the leather is all nice and unblemished again, and you can keep the tub in the car for any whoopsies! :crazy:

UPDATE:

So after speaking to my salesman he's now told me that the refurb on the alloys will mean it's being pushed back again til the 14th to collect it.

Does anyone know if it really should take that long for a main dealer to refurb diamond cut alloys or if I'm just being messed about having to wait even longer, the original car I was collecting would have been ready today, but it's going to take another week and a half nearly!

Is 2 weeks a reasonable time for a main dealer?

Refurb on cut alloys should only take a few days............the dealer is just stalling, it's not his most important sale I guess...........I'd bang on the desk!

I went in to finish it off so all we need to do on the day is take the keys and drive off and the sales manager said it was down to the car having the refurbishment, the safety checks and transferring old number plates etc. Sounds like more BS to me. I made a point of saying if its pushed back again there's plenty of other companies who would love my business...

I would say that under two weeks from sale to delivery including some refurb work and plate transfer is reasonable.

Just enjoy the anticipation would be my advice.

Cheers mate!

Just gone and pulled the trigger on the leather guard, cleaning solution and a couple of the applicator pads. Shame they haven't got tar and glue remover in stock as I need some to do the debadging, gonna have to take a trip to halfrauds now.

Nice car.

It's 3 for 2 at Halfords at the moment - fill your boots.

I need to pop down to Halfrauds to get some rust remover for my Larini exhaust system that was foolishly stored in a rather damp garage for 2 years. It's actually appreciated in value due to being out of production and high in demand but has somehow developed some surface corrosion on the stainless steel which I didn't think was possible.

Will pick up some AG Tar Remover when I'm there!

I did not know you were having cherished plates swapped, this could easily hold up the process, not the wheel refurb and a polish.

In the end I picked it up yesterday, the plate transfer is actually happening afterwards, just got my retention certificate but waiting for the new V5 in the post so I can reassign it to the SLK.

I had blue with beige and quite liked it. Just clan your seats weekly if you drive daily and check if your jeans are not leaving colour on seats.
