Hi All,
I’m ClawHammer, on account of having long front teeth with a gap resembling the claw part of a hammer (according to my mate). Unfortunately my user name is taken on this forum, either by another unfortunate with the same affliction but more likely it was by me many years ago using another e-mail address so I’m unable to recover it. Therefore, I’ve had to registered as a misspelt version i.e. “ClawHamer”:(

Anyway, I’m currently in a BMW M4 and wishing to trade it in for a C300 and looking to spec one up and order in the coming months. I’m looking for any advice/tips on ordering this car such as the options I should/shouldn’t tick, best deals currently out there, amount of discount I should be aiming to get and anything else I should be aware of.

I’m building the car I want on the Mercedes website and can’t see a way to get rid of the chrome surrounding the windows (I hate chrome). I know it can be done on the C43/63 with the night pack but is there really no way to eliminate on models below them?

This will be my first Mercedes and looking forward to ownership and hopefully some forum banter along the way.

Cheers,
CH

Welcome gappy. Maybe the hand of fate is steering you to AMG and a night pack. Expensive but what cars. Low monthly payments?

Lol, thanks.

I really don’t want a C43/63 but the C43 seems to be everything I want in a car with a bit more. Previous to the M4 I had an Audi A5 3.0 Quattro s-tronic. This is the sort of car I want now. It wasn’t an S5 or RS5 so didn’t stand out, wasn’t loud but still had enough speed. I see the C43 as being similar to an S5 or M4 and then the RS5 and C63 being another level crazier. If Mercedes made a c-class with a 3.0 engine then that would be perfect. I was disappointed to learn that the C300 was actually a 2.0 :dk:

I’m testing one out next weekend so will reserve judgment until then but I really don’t want a 2.0 engine.

Not sure what you meant by “Expensive but what cars. Low monthly payments?”

Welcome. I would be interested in your comments on the M4 ownership ;)

I bought the M4 from new in April 2016 so approaching 4 years of ownership. I have nothing bad to say about my entire experience. I shopped around for the best deal I could find in the UK and almost bought from Scotland but my local dealership matched the deal. It’s a well specced car. I got to see it arriving on the transporter.

It’s had a couple of minor issues that were sorted quickly and one major issue just after the warranty had ended but done FOC as a goodwill gesture. They also sent me on a track day! The dealership have been great.

Driving the M4 always brings a smile to my face even on the darkest days of which I’ve had a few in the last couple of years. It’s by far the best car I’ve owned to date. I’ve taken it to the IOM twice each year I’ve owned it so had the opportunity to open it up properly and legally. It’s awesome!!

There’s nothing, in the same price range, that I would buy because everything else falls short of the M4 in one way or another. If I can afford to, then I’d like to get back in an M4 when the next gen one has been released.

Please ask if you want to know anything else :thumb:

What were the issues?
Was it the hard top convertible?

Stones trapped in disc guards about 6 months into ownership but these were replaced with a redesigned guards and not had any issues since. I then had an issue with the amplifier meaning a replacement was required.

Yes, this is the hard top convertible. How’d you get that from looking at the underside :dk:

My psychic abilities, or it could just be anyone buying an M4 would be foolish not to buy the hardtop convertible as it has best of all worlds ;-).

The M4 convertible is the only BMW I would currently consider coming from an SL V8 and requiring a hard top convertible.....

Totally agree with you on the hard top. My A5 was a vert and had loads of problems with the hood which they replaced in the end but really wouldn’t want a soft top again. The hard tops are so good. Heard a rumour that the next gen 4 series will be soft top!?!? Hope it’s not true. Going to go with a coupe this time but hopefully with the pano roof to soften the blow.

Just bumping this thread to see if anybody can shed more light on options, pricing and discount.
Thanks,
CH

I have messaged a member who works for Mercedes- Norwich who may be able to assist.
I have pointed him to this thread so hopefully he can chime in and maybe arrange contact. His forum username is JBD.

There’s currently no night pack on C Coupe or C43, only C63. You’d probably have to go aftermarket to get them wrapped.

There’s a potential that a night edition model may be released, which would have a night pack, but no indication of when yet

Thanks for the information but “damn” that’s a shame. Do you know, approx., how long it was between the release of the previous version of the c class and the night editions?

They’re always at the end of production, but no guarantee

Hi. I miss my m3 evo but happy with my c63. It’s my first merc too. Had a couple of small things gone wrong but cheap and easy to do. Hope you enjoy yours when you get it.
