Hello folks!

I will get to the point. I have purchased a 2014 E350 AMG Line 9G Coupe with 30K on the clock. The car drives very well but there are two niggles i would like to correct.

As you can see, a previous owner has broken the plastic hoop which retains the opening rod. Though this looks like it might be replaceable on its own, i doubt it is! Does anyone know what the most efficient part replacement is? I have found exploded parts diagrams which allege to be for the C307, but they aren't (one door is always longer, like the C-class).

I hate waste, both money and parts, hence want to avoid purchasing a whole replacement module (PSB):

Heated Seat

When i select the drivers side heated seat to on i get 3 lights for about 8 seconds, then all 3 go out, and there is no perceptable heating within the seat. I have done a little research, but the same symptom seems to be casued by a multitude of causes! I did some physical invest and found the following 2 plugs disconnected (there were also some cable harnesses unclipped, so somone has tinkered with the seat previously...):

Does anyone recognise these cables / connectors? I presume they connect to the back of the visible connector blocks, but am not going to guess which ones! I have a meter, so could check for voltages, would be greatful if some could let me know expected readings! 🤓

P.S. the passenger heated seat works perfectly.

Thanks in advance - any help or advice gratefully received!

Don’t know what the wires do but could you compare the connections on driver and passenger sides to establish if it’s the heated seat element that’s disconnected? Also, is it the base, backrest or both that aren’t working?

It is likely that the seat heater matrix is faulty and the last owner disconnected the harness. Do the bolster air bags all inflate ok? If the heater is s/c it would explain why it’s been left disconnected. Try it back in as per the passenger side, if it is s/c it will blow the fuse.

Hello gents!

Thanks for the replies 😁

I had similar thoughts - unfortunately the harnesses to both seats are not the same. The passenger side doesn't actually have those two small connectors, only larger ones (and not as many strangely).

Colin, no driver heating is functioning, it is all kaput...

Andrew, forgive my ignorance, but what are bolster bags? I Googled the term and it only came up with crash deployable air bags (which thankfully haven't inflated 🤣).

Thanks again!

Why not try reconnecting them? The worst you can do is blow a fuse. They will be ‘keyed’ to only fit in one place if they are original equipment.

Thanks for the reply Colin! I would love to believe that everything is properly protected, but I will keep your suggestion as a last resort as i would love to get more info before i risk blowing something up.

Are there schematics / wiring diagrams kicking about on the web that anyone knows about? I know MB aren't going to publish proprietary data, but any detailed 'fag packets' would be very useful! 😁

Bolster bags will be the inflatable bags in the seat bolsters each side of the seat underneath the bolsters. Give you a hug when inflated :)
Say what?! My car has never hugged me 🤣 I presume it isn't operational, or isn't fitted on my model. I will jump in the passenger side and see if hugs are available there...

The seats usually have a little control at the side like this.

It controls an air supply that is connected near your connectors to inflate or deflate bags in the seat to make them a better fit.
