It will be the 231hp version I would think.

Mine was June 2010 and was 231hp.

Thanks of this. Looking at the spec sheet ut has the AMG clutch driven 7+ box so I'm thinking 265bhp?

Does it?

Mine is the 7g +, and mine says...

Transmission:
722906 03 413489 [transmissionType = GA]

I thought when we were discussing it recently the 02 was 7g and 03 was 7g+?

Maybe I'm wrong then. If you look towards the bottom of the sheet it mentions "converter with three friction discs"

Any thoughts?

The revised 265bhp engine didn't come in until mid 2011 if i recall correctly. Any pre facelift 212 made between 2009 and the early part of 2011 Will be 231bhp.

It's a bit of a pity to miss out on it because the mpg became better and tax came down as well. A remap could improve the performance to match the later engine if you fancied going down that route

I don't think you're quite right. Mine was registered in Sept 2010 and is 265bhp. At least, that is what it said on the Autotrader advert when I bought it (and, coincidentally, what it said on the parking fine I received this very morning!).

On the spec-sheet, there is a code 'M014 - Engine Increased Performance'. Perhaps this determines whether it's 231 or 265.

Thanks all. Interesting stuff, it should be easier to tell!

Could anyone tell me what the differences inside the cabin are on the 7g+? Are there more modes on the box?

Not a clue.

I know all the 7G+ cars I have been in have had stop/start, but not sure if that tells you or not?

What MPG are you getting?

My 350 cdi was registered in July 2011 it has the flat bottom steering wheel with a multi function colour screen in the centre of the speedo it says 265 on the log book.
I test drove other 2011 models that had the different steering wheel and monochrome LCD display I believe they where 231.
When I was looking for the Ecoupe I would look at the steering wheel to determine whether it was a 265 or not.

I think there were definitely a few 265s with the monochrome cluster.

I also think there were some 265s with the non plus 7g 'box too.

Straight DRL I think assure you it is a 265, but hockey stick DRLs doesn't guarantee it is a 231hp.

I would put your vin into the Mercedes service schedule thing to see what it says is needed.
That might tell you whether you have the 7g or 7g+ at least.

There were. Mine was an April 2011 build and had the monochrome instrument cluster and the media interface connector in the glovebox, rather than in the centre console (media interface connector relocation & change to full colour instrument cluster happened at the same time).
I also think there were some 265s with the non plus 7g 'box too.
I don't think there were. My recollection (I was going through the buying process of a new E350CDI on the cusp of the changeover period, so I took a good deal of interest in what was happening) is that the 265bhp engine and the 7g+ 'box were introduced simultaneously.

Easiest way to determine if its a 231bhp/7g car or a 265bhp/7g+ car is the CO2 emissions as stated on the V5 document. I posted a table of these values here late last year when it was discussed.

Thanks for all your help and responses.

Ok so I think it's a 231bhp car but still not sure about the box.

It says 192gpm for the emissions....

The 192g/km emissions is because it's an estate, the table I linked was for the saloon.

With that emissions number your car is a 231bhp car with a 7g (not 7g+) 'box.

265bhp/7G+ W212's were first delivered late 2011 (61 plate).

Nope.

Mine was an April 2011 build (I know as I did Factory Collection - on the day of the Royal Wedding, which was a great source of interest at the Sindelfingen Kundencenter :D) and was 100% guaranteed a 265bhp/7g+ car.

You collected though...;)

Very recently I was in the market for an S212 E350 and wanted the 265bhp/7G+ and I found none whatsoever that were any earlier than September 2011 reg (and I searched literally hundreds; the usual sites plus all the big trade auctions)

Just out of interest, does anyone know when the 350cdi engine had its output changed again?

The reason i say this is because the even later 350s ( called bluetec i think) are rated at 254 bhp and 457lb ft. It looks as though the power rating was actually decreased at some point presumably in 2014 time.

The last of the line w212 "AMG night editions" had this output. Was this change introduced at the same time as the 9g tronic gearbox?
