New to the Club :)

They really do! I was in a BMW dealership last week and they were selling a lime green bicycle for £1500 or so with an M badge stuck on it...

Haha! Wow, I remember seeing a bike on a roof rack in a BMW showroom but didn't check the price.

Do you think they are going down the green route and turbocharging those too? I wonder if they are going to release an M-sport line of bikes to complement the full blooded M version...

When trying to decide on which C class to go for (it was always going to be a coupe), I test drove a C200, C300 and C43. The 200 was far too slow and numb, the 300 was much better but the 43 is another level altogether. I would advise you test drive one if you haven't already and if the opportunity is there, take one for the weekend. The combination of the AMG exhaust, engine and 9G-tronic box is immense and the soundtrack is utterly engrossing.

You get a nicer selection of alloy wheels and interior trim options in the 43 and it is 4matic too. The difference in price definitely justified the 43 over the 300 for me.

Hi mate I have the same dilemma as you. Need to test drive the three first. Am leaning towards the C300 just because of price and my daily commute is only 2 miles (so not sure if will benefit from the increased performance).

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of discount were you able to negotiate on the c43? Looking on drivethedeal/coast2coast a while ago, the discount was around about 10%...

Every other 320d has an M3 badge on it.

Even though my CLS is the AMG Line, the badge on the back says CLS350 on one side and CDI on the other. I've known some owners to remove the CDI badge and replace it with the AMG badge, which is very, very naughty.

A lot of owners decide to unbadge their vehicles, which is usually an indication that it is a 180. My C220 was unbadged, which was great fun when Audi drivers decided to show me how quick they were, and I ended up demonstrating how quick my 220 was.

(Respect to the S-Line only).

((Why are some Audis quick as anything, while others are as slow as a snail stuck in mud?)).

Mind you, some tit in a C220 tried to race my CLS350. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Remember that there is only one way to determine if you are driving an AMG. Look at the mats in the footwells. If they have AMG written on them, you are driving an AMG.

:bannana:

I've never messed around with badges. I've always just bought what I want with the correct badging on it from the start. I enjoyed stopping next to loads of replica S3s at lights and leaving them for dust!

I had one in a 1.6 A3 (S3 rep) who kept trying it even though I'd monster him to 70 and then lift while he went past (eventually) laughing like his car suddenly had a whole load of top end mine couldn't compete with...numpty.

A lot of Audis are pretty quick now though when compared to their direct rivals. Mine can beat most things off the line and has done me very proud over the last couple of years. Not much can live with it! A C63 destroyed me from 3rd gear on but to 60 I had him every time.

I tried to keep pace with a 16 plate C250 and that thing has some understated torque going on under the hood! The fastest thing I've tried it with was a Tesla of some flavour. I have never been dominated like that before. He was doing 60 before I got out of first!

With all this badge fiddling going on, I'm surprised nobody buys AMG floormats :p

Fair enough, the 300 has similar performance to my S3 and that is plenty quick enough. I would have gone for that if the 43 wasn't about. I take the bus to work during the week but I will definitely be enjoying it during evenings/weekends!

You will always benefit from increased performance, those 2 miles will go by much faster haha!

Discounts on C2C were coming back at around 11% but I managed to wrangle 12.2% somehow. My dealer told me that new registration months (March, September) are best for deals as Merc, Audi and BMW all compete for sales and numbers are king. If I had ordered for October/November, the deal would have been closer to 8%.

So if you can wait 6-7 months or are able to hijack a September build slot, there are great deals to be had...

Nice one Vijay, I am sure you will enjoy the C43; awesome car ;)

My dealer just called me and told me the car has been built already and is awaiting clearance to come over here. I can choose my registration plate on Monday/Tuesday and collect on the 10th!

It was originally scheduled for a 6/9 build slot with delivery 23/9 so it has come forward a lot!

Only one week to go :D

I gather you are going for a custom plate, or have one on retention already.

If not, why not...

Welcome to the party!

I just got rid of an Audi S4 (due to idiots keep breaking in to my house trying to steal it) if the C43 performs as well as the S4, you wont stop smiling... just watch your licence:devil:

Just be aware its a performance car and idiots may come looking for it. Essentials - Garage / House alarm / Large dog / tracker - immobiliser....

Look forward to your report, its on my list for upgrade when I've moved house.

I found some very nice plates available to buy but for the price, it really isn't worth it IMO. My dealer said he will give me a choice of about 10 plates at the start of the week and I can choose whichever one floats my boat the most :D.

Oh gosh that's terrible! Where do you live if you don't mind sharing? I've heard of that sort of thing happening but I thought they were relatively isolated incidents. I couldn't imagine it happening to me consistently!

I've driven the latest generation of S4 and RS3 and the C43 definitely feels faster and more aggressive. My license has somehow survived the last 8 years so I'm looking forward to continuing the gauntlet!

I used to live in Slough when I first bought my S3 and never had any issues which was a surprise considering how many cars are stolen there. Since then I've moved to a gated house in a decent area. There's a few nice cars dotted around so I'm hoping all stays well. Although you've got me worried now!

I live in South Manchester which seems to be Audi Theft Capital of the world!
It was only 2 incidents in 4 months after 14 years of no problems at the address, until the S4 arrived, a spare key theft first time - locks changed, 4 guys in balaclavas second time... they did not get the keys.
There's a C63 parks just down the street parked on the road, they did not bother with that!

Hope you never have the experience, I'm sure you will enjoy the C43 :thumb:

They might do a sports exhaust with a flap.... You know, a flap hanging off the rear seat and being flicked by the rear tyre to make a motorbike noise :D

(I remember when I was 10 years old and used to shove an empty coke can in the gap between the rear wheel and frame just under the reflector to make that noise...)

Just before I got the CL500 (the day before in fact!), someone attempted to steal my M5 at 9:30pm at night. They weren't the cleverest bunch as they stopped right under a street lamp and 2x chavs got out wearing hoodies... Then tried walking down the side of my drive which they thought was dark but I could still see them moving... so I locked my doors and waited... then he tried the door handle... the passenger door handle... (because that's the side where the steering wheel is in the movies innit), so i started the engine and reversed a little bit, which surprised them. There was then some shouting, which caused the driver of the car that they came in to open his door slightly, causing the interior light of that car to nicely shine on the face of the driver (The description of whom was told to the police later on). I then beeped my horn and they both ran off back to the car and quickly sped off.

I got their registration number though. And a crime reference number from the police.

And i've not heard a thing from the cops. They were most probably using a stolen numberplate on their car.

Lucky there was no damage to my M5 as it was the part exchange for the next day...

If they did catch them, what could they be charged with? Trying the passenger door handle of a car parked on a drive? I dare say the police know who they are, but unless they can be charged with something, there's not much the police can do.

I'd like to think that attempted car hijacking is a crime, but even if it is, the chavs could just easily wiggle out of it as I have no CCTV footage or anything to prove it all.

Probably time to invest in CCTV I think!

It won't make any difference. If a Chav attacks you, the Police will just say that there is not enough evidence to prosecute, yet if you hit the Chav the Police will throw the book at you.

Haha! I used to do the same - felt like such a badass. I knew I was destined for an AMG exhaust at some point :D
