New Vehicle VED

Dunno if anyone can help with this one, as I've been unable to track down an answer via Google...

In the past (a number of years ago, before the continuous VED/SORN rules) I purchased a new car that was registered in the last week of a month and rather than "lose" almost an entire month's VED, the dealer taxed the car for 12months + 1week.

Is that (i.e. VED for 12months + 1week) still available at first registration time?

Pretty sure a dealer can do up to virtually 13months.

That was my recollection of what used to be possible, but I can't find anything that confirms it still works like that?

The option is still present on the latest V55/4 form, so I would assume it's still possible.

Cant be sure but I think that was done this year when I bought my car near the end of March. I will ask the retailer tomorrow when at the dealer for coffee.
