Heyas,

The wheels we have on the E320cdi Estate (w210, 2000/w) are old and scuffed and ugly, and we've decided we want to put some new nicer wheels on instead of getting these refurbed (they're in a really bad state, and I just don't believe they could really make them nice again.

So, the question is - what kind of wheels (reasonably priced!) will fit and make sense? The current ones are 16" - can I go to 17" without a problem? What kind of fitting do I need? Where's a good place to buy them?

There are some nice ones on gbdriver, advertised at £239 for a set of four 17" wheels, or £469 including tyres, which seems very reasonable. Or some others on RaceAndRoad for £549.99 for a set of four MVK 10 17 x 7 with 205/40 17 tyres including VAT and delivery, fitted and balanced to wheels, supplied with bolts, centre caps and ready to fit. Do these look good?

I must say I've never actually changed wheels on a car before - my BMW M5 had factory fitted BMW alloys, and the Audi A8 4.2 Quattro had factory fitted Audi alloys. So I'm kinda new at this! Any advice welcome :)

i guess it also comes down to what style you like as well as what will go with your car. I like spoke styles and the MVKs are really nice - but I'm not sure they'd go with your car. Could do with a bit of Photo shopping to get an idea of the look :D

I think you need to set your budget first - then see what's in its reach. You could pick up a nice set of MB originals of Ebay you never know.

Pietre's Brabus monoblocks look like the way to go. They are truly gorgeous and suit the car well.

See Clumber Park piccies.

Also Ian T has 17" exchange rims on his car that suit the car well.

Right, well I found this brabus link which shows the beautiful brabus wheels. They also cost a fortune and are far more than I can afford :)

I guess I'm looking to spend not more than £400 on the wheels (plus I guess a couple of hundred on tyres), which means I can't afford original mercedes AMG or Brabus wheels :S I'd also prefer not to buy used, simply because I know so little about changing wheels.

So, any suggestions on where to buy?

Pammy - you're right, those don't go with my car. I cut + pasted them onto photos, and it just doesn't work with an estate :-( Thanks for the heads up :)

Ok, click here to get a site that has loads of alloys and can show you a picture of them fitted to your car. It's great - exactly what I need to decide what to fit to my car! Covers all the merc models as far as I can see, and understand the difference between a W210 and a W211 :)

I bought mine from a guy near Bristol who advertises on ebay. I paid £700 for 4 Brabus Monoblocs all unused and boxed. He had new AMG and Lorinser also. If you would like, I can try and locate his number for you. He has a warehouse full of them.

That would -so- rock. For the right wheels I could definitely stretch to £700! Bristol isn't too far for me to travel either (I have family in west london, and we're moving there in a couple of weeks hopefully, so it's a quick drive down the M4 :). Please let me know if you find the number!

Thanks,

If you email this address [email protected] and ask what he has available. I have emailed him to confirm he still sells them. Wish well in your hunt for the wheels, this guy is genuine when he tells you they are new etc, and he drives an SL.

Who do you guys insure with and do they load your premium for changing the wheels? I've bought some 17" 5 spoke wheels (like on the current C Sport, £550 from Merc dealer) but eSure are trying to load my premium by 30%, so I haven't put them on yet.

I got stung on the insurance also, but i was told that if they were supplied by Mercedes there would be no loading e.g. AMG no loading, Brabus approx 30% loading with First Alternative (no others interested).

Wow!! What a clever site. Thanks for the link.

Why bother telling the insurance you are changing the wheels??

If the car or wheels got nicked you could just claim that it had standard alloys on it!!

Or if involved in an accident just say thats what wheels came on the car when you got it and thought they were standard.
