Hi all,

As per title I've just picked up my 1st Merc - a 2004 C220 CDi.

Had to replace my much loved S-Type Jag after getting rear ended on M40.

After many years of car loans & company cars, I opted out some 20yrs ago and typically don't spend more than £1,750 on a car.

Went looking for another Jag, gave up & started looking for a well cared for solid car that would cover most duties and take my 6'4" size.

Ended up with a great condition C220 CDi estate. 1 owner (time served mechanic), fully stamped, mint interior, mint wheels & new tyres (Goodyears & have issues). Paid £1,500 and have done over 3k miles in 6 weeks.

Absolutely love the car and don't know why I avoided MB's for years. Think it's even reignited my petrol head for cars - also ride bikes.

Have a few minor issues but overall a cracking car which is comfortable, shifts when needed and returns 50mpg with no depreciation 😁

Welcome to the group and a man after my own, My ethos for car purchase for the last few decades is either buy one good second hand one and keep it on the road until you can't and have a price cap that is around yours!

The exception was the SL purchase!

Sounds like you have got yourself a great motor.

Motorbikes, yep i am also that way inclined and i apply the same as the cars, one i have owned since 2000, and the other one is four years older, but i have only owned that one for a decade!

Off on a boys weekend this coming weekend on the bikes, lets hope the weather is kinder than it has been lately otherwise i might end up with trench foot

Its not ,looking too bad for the weekend.....at least not down here. No such thing as bad weather......its just the wrong equipment!
