Newbie and issues with air suspension

hi all..

Newbie time... Nick here from the UK... having chopped in my BMW M3 for a AMG i have to say OMG what a beast ..

However it seems she has decided to tell me that her air suspension is faulty and looking like its gonna cost way upwards of £700 to get it sorted..

My question is has anyone switch to standard shocks and springs?

if so...

Which type?
Cost?
how do get round telling the car it hasnt got air suspension?

or should i just get my wallet out?

also is there anyone out there selling the software i can load onto my laptop to do my own techi bits?

Test drive a used car with normal springs and see if you like the ride.

Welcome to the forum Nick.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? Your best bet is to let a good indi check out your suspension for you and advise on the fault and possible repair cost.

If it's air suspension struts required, they can be bought from the following outlet
AMG: Mercedes E-Class W211/S211 shock-absorbing strut AMG front left

If it's the pump, there are quite a few advertised on ebay uk.

depending on where you are I would get it on a ramp and checked by a MB specialist.

did the people who checked say what was actually wrong?

IMO Air suspension is one of the highlights of the E55, ability to raise the car has probably saved my sump many times. Personally on the UK roads, I would not go to the coil over setup which can be done.
