Hey all
Well me and the Mrs are 50 this year, so we decided to buy another car.
We have had a 2014 ML 350 D for about 5 years and honestly the only money spent on this car has been tyres, fuel, servicing. Nothing apart from a wishbone connector on the filler cap in all that time, its been an absolute pleasure and doddle owning a Merc however, I must admit I am not sure if this excellent buy was a matter of more look than judgment lol, I didn't even know what the engine size was when I bought it which just shows our expert " petrol heard skills" not
So, new cars we looked at:
1. Porsche Macan s - 55-60 k
2. Range Rover Sport - 55-60 k
3. Upgrade our 350ML to GLE 400d trade in total 55-60 k
The Porsche was probably not going to be practical as a full on daily runner as main use will run in to town ( 6 miles ) and back at least a couple of times a day and some travelling on motorways for holidays etc and probably never going to get 25mpg if we are lucky and my right foot can be heavy so that would bring me down to 20mpg and that is just silly tbh.
The Range rover sport, must admit was the other half's car of choice however, the problems that come with these cars, even for a non petrol head like us can not be ignored however, the fuel consumption would be more acceptable I must admit British engineering really gets me down for a country like us honestly, so we just can not be bothered buying a car that could be lets be honest a nightmare.
Upgrade and trade in the ML 350 ( 125,000 Miles ) good condition maybe get 10k trade in hopefully, to a GLE 400d mainly due to the fact you get air suspension and the drive comfort we imagine would be great . This would be the natural progression up from the ML 350 again however, not sure about fuel running costs but high 20s MPG I believe quite easily achievable. Can anyone provide me with an update to this claim please ?
So, it looks like that we are going to go with our heart instead of of our heads and stick to Mercedes.
Any feedback on the 400d would be appreciated.
Joe
