Ok guys ive just had my aircon re gassed looking at the controls it saying ac off and a red light for the aircon to work does the light need to be on or of = work

Hahaha...

It fooled me as well to start with. Mercedes must have thought we needed a warning when the air-con is off.

Air-con is ON when the light is OFF. (At least that's how it is on mine).

SLK= green (I think) when ON, Vito=red when ON. Don't know about the A200.

Depends on the car. SLK R171 red when AC on. CLK W209 red when AC off. No light when on

My B Class, the light is on when the aircon is working.

It depends on what model you have and what year the car is.

On my CLK 209 two red lights show. Clk controls in brief, page 16 item 6 & 7
When lights are on it blows cold air.

On earlier cars the button is denoted EC (economy), on later cars it is AC (Aircon).

The red light indicates the control is on, whichever denotation it has.
