Hey guys so not long ago i posted a thread about certain dashboards signs not popping up only to find out the person or garage took out the bulbs and didn't really take notice, anyways I'm having problems because the lights that are staying on are :

BAS/ESP
ETS
ABS
EPC <------ the one that I'm worried about

Car drives fine only noticed the breaks which explains the ABS coming on the dashboard.

Can someone help me please how could i sort out the EPC light any idea what can it be and how much it would cost me to put right??? really enjoying the car

THANKS

Electronic Power Control

Can be caused by a faulty Mass Airflow Sensor according to Google... (Disclaimer)

With the engine running, turn the steering wheel fully from lock-to-lock and hopefully that will settle the lights down.

So thats what EPC stands for electronic power control??? if it is the Mass Airflow would that be costly to put right??? is it safe to drive??

I was thinking of replacing the Battery would that help with the other lights?? i will try to do the steering once i get the bulbs hehehehe

Very naughty of whoever took the bulbs out. Obviously done to hide the faults. Did you buy it from a trader or private sale?

BAS - Brake ASsist / ESP - Electronic Stability Program

ETS - Electronic Traction System

ABS - Anti-lock Braking System

EPC as stated by KillerHERTZ

What have you noticed wrong with the brakes?

Bought the car Private and the only thing that i notice were steering feels light don't know if thats normal and breaks i would have to press fully to bring it to a stop if that makes any sense

are they costly to put right?? i had a look on the log book and everything was statin towards low volts or alternator

Can you clarify the position regarding the bulbs. Has anyone actually physically checked that the bulbs are missing and that there isn't any tape stuck over the instrument panel, even on the back (inside) of where the dials and lights are.

Can't see low voltage stopping the warning lights from illuminating. Does it start ok, or struggle to crank over?

This link will let you check the MOT history and status of the vehicle and any advisories that have been issued. (Assuming that you're in the UK). https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status

some one actually took the bulbs out had a few spare that i had for my previous car and as soon as i turn her over the lights stay on, also have all of the MOTs and the only advisory was on the last one which was outer steering rack gaiter deteriorated?? also she cranks over fine just takes a lil longer than a petrol engine

I use the car everyday and will have to save money just to sort it out one by one will it be safe to drive and which sign should i get sorted first hehehe

Personally I wouldn't feel safe driving it with the excessive brake pedal travel and so many related faults. Have you checked the brake fluid level?

Before you start blindly throwing parts at it, the best option is to get it diagnosed on STAR as I've already said. Get it into a MB indie. As I also asked in your other thread, if you say where you are located, someone may be able to recommend an indie.

Unfortunately prestige cars may depreciate in value, but the cost of running, maintaining and repairing them doesn't work pro-rata. It's quite possible that any faults are all connected, but without diagnostics there's no way of knowing.

Thanks Mike!!! and to all of you will get it checked and age thanks for you help guys :thumb::thumb:

One more thing Mike do you think the lights might be on because I'm 231 days overdue service??

No mate. The only warning you would get is 'Service Overdue' in the display every time you start it and that would disappear after a couple of minutes.

I'm afraid with the complexity of modern cars there's no easy answer when fault warnings pop up. Unfortunately it sounds or appears someone 'may' have been less than honest about it when they sold it.

Don't forget, if you would like help finding a good indie garage... post your location.
