Hi all,

I am looking to buy a E350Cdi 2012 and with my budge probably looking at 70k - 110k miles.

I am trying to find out exactly what service work should have been completed. Firstly am I right in that the engine type is simply '642'? I read on some other web pages that the coupe has different one from saloon (642.836 vs 642.850). Does this matter when looking at oil types etc?

I think the maintenance booklet I need is this one: Link

From what I can see the 2012 E-Class should have had:
  • Transmission oil and filter at 40,000 or 4 years
  • Replace fuel filter 60,000 or 6 years
  • Brake fluid 60,000 or 6 years
  • Evacuate DEF at 80,000 or 8 years
  • Brake fluid 80,000 or 8 years
  • Transmission oil and filter at 80,000 or 8 years
  • Replace fuel filter 80,000 or 8 years
  • Replace air filter 80,000 or 8 years
  • Evacuate DEF at 100,000 or 10 years
  • Brake fluid 100,000 or 10 years
  • Replace fuel filter 100,000 or 10 years
So if being sold with a 'full service history' I would expect receipts for the above, even if completed by an independent garage (preferably specialist)?

Was there any recalls? or Updates I need to be aware of and check occurred?

Thanks

Oil is MB spec 229.51 for the om642 engine .

This could take a while finding used with all that . I paid £24k for my e350 and it didn't even have an mot or any service history.

TBH my main focus is on seeing if the transmission oil / filter has been replaced on schedule and yearly oil changes.

One car I am looking at is 100k and the seller says it has a folder full of history so interested to see if it has been covering these key scheduled services, especially as I imagine the transmission oil / filter change is pricey even at an independent specialist garage?

On another note, can anyone recommend the best vehicle checker service to use? I have been using check car details for £4.99 but not sure if there is a better one I should be using?

Gearbox oil change is around £200 so no real biggy tbh. Do you think the engine would of seen 102k if it wasn't serviced ?

Vehicle smart is good for checking mot history.
