Hallo all - not locg joined the Forum - I own a Mercedes CLK 230 Kompressor Avantgarde of 51 age - Love the car - dont think much of Mercedes servicing (Shortly after purchasing kept getting misfires and found 3 different types of spark plugs and one which was seized in I also have carried out a B service replacing Fuel filter and all oils and brake fluid coolant etc - just got back brakes left to strip and clean - found many things indicating neglect of servicing although the car has full MB service history!)
The only downside I have with the car is the paintwork and rust - reading other threads this is common though - will try to get a goodwill repair - on that note does anyone know of helpful dealers in Glasgow or Central Scotland the one in Hamilton doesnt have a Bodyshop.
A bit of boring background - I have been working on cars since the age of 10 and studied automotive engineering as one of my subjects at uni. I have pretty much done every kind of job imagineable from minis to ferrari. The list of Previous cars is way too long to mention - used to have a knew one every couple of months - then got bored or had modified them - then got bored. Im hopeing this doesnt happen with the CLK the 2 longest owned cars were a Citroen Xantia diesel estate which I custom fitted with leather seats amongst others - owned 2 years and sold due to moving to Germany and was using a motorbike Thereafter in Germany eventually got BMW 525 tds Executive Sport (Germany only model) it was really good and convinced me only German Prestige cars were the way to go this served me for 2.5 years with no problems having covered around 30,000 miles a year privately with normal servicing and nothing else - of course I moded it and when it was sold it was rust free 1996 example and still is - i know the polish guy I sold it to (was LHD).
As alluded to I lived in Germany and also speak it Fluently so if thats of help to anyone then just drop me a line.
Finally Sorry its such a long post and not got any Pics of the car yet - will come soon!
