Hi guys,

So I'm in the market for a 2013 /14 CLS 250cdi shooting brake.

I have some stupid questions for you.

I am doing around 20k miles per year 75% motorway.

I think it's a classic a/b service routine, am I right in thinking the intervals is every 20k miles?

Roughly how much will the servicing cost if I went to an independent?

Roughly what is a brake pad change cost?

I think I read somewhere that the car has a timing chain, does that mean it doesn't need changing?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Welcome to the forum.
Modern Mercedes are serviced every 12months or 10k miles whichever is sooner IIRC.

Servicing is dependant on what needs doing as indies usually do the oil/filter then check everything else so if for instance the air filter is particulary dirty he'll change it. ATF will be done mileage dependant and you'd be advised when discs and pads needed doing. A small service should be half the cost of main dealer, approx £100 - £150

Brake pad changes at an estimated guess are around £100- £150 inc parts.

Yes, MB have a timing chain and don't need changing.

Good luck in your search.

You wouldnt by any chance have 1 of those service schedules for a 2013 c class with the m274 engine?

I see you are in Kent, give Steve a call at Stevensons, Larkfield.
Nice guy, knows Mercs indide out, he will give you any info you need.

^ If you don't ask them you'll never know;).
The screen price should be negotiable IMO.

I will! Looks like Stevenson might be see regular business from me! In fact, I hope to be looking at a CLS SB and a 5 series estate at Big Motoring World on the weekend which is nearby.

Awesome thanks, did you find that in the link above?

1. I worked-out the list in my post above from ESS and from MB's service quotes website.

2. The link I sent you by PM was for the official service booklet which I downloaded from Mercedes Me. If you register your car with Mercedes Me, you are given the option to download the service booklet.

Here is the link to all of them. No idea if the M274 engine is covered or not. You may have to scroll through.

Mercedes-Benz Service Intervals - Maintenance Schedules
Interestingly it does cover my M276 engine, but the service schedules for things such as ATF change and sparkplug renewal aren’t the same as in the maintenance book that came with my car nor those so far carried out by MB. They are surprisingly different. It’s not only the English language that differs on either side of the Atlantic.

Hi folks

I test drove a CLS 2013 yesterday. The infortainment system seemed a bit basic to me. The car had comand online.

Can I get Android auto to mirror on the screen?

Also can I stream music from my phone to the unit?

That would be COMAND NTG4.5. Nice unit, but as it was in service from 2011 to 2015, then yes it would be a bit ourdated in 2018. Check the maps version - the latest is v16.0 - dealers charge up to £199 for maps update.

Not without additional hardware (a Raspberry-Pi box).

Also can I stream music from my phone to the unit?

Yes, easily, select Bluetooth Audio Device from COMAND menu and pair your phone. Works quite well. You may also be able to connect the phone via USB cable if the car is equipped with the optional Universal Media Interface.

Thanks markjay, you're dead right comparing 2013 technology to today is wrong. I also test drove a 5 series, and whilst I preferred the ride and smoothness of the CLS, I preferred the 5 series infotainment solution, graphics seemed of higher resolution, and it seemed more modern.

I will check the maps.
