E320 CDI Auto Estate
Hello to you all and thank you for existing as a club and as individuals.

I thought I was condemned to paying to join the posh Mercedes club but, then I found you and now my life is complete.

I've just bought a V plate (2000) E320 CDI auto estate with 121,000 on the clock.

Sorry to be asking questions as soon as I arrive but, what's the score with the exhaust back box once the brackets have gone?

I'm only starting to look into the situation but, it appears I can either get an after-market unit fitted at the local exhaust and tyres place for £320 or go to my local M B and get the genuine article and fit it myself.

Or, I could get an after-market unit and fit it myself.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

The car is a 210 model E class.

I won't tell you about the D category situation in 2003 or how I had to wait for six weeks to collect the car after paying for it on ebay!

All good fun that I can relay later.

Basically it's not too bad a car (as yet) and it does everything but make the tea.

I paid £2,495.00 with twelve months MOT and six months tax, nearly new Avon tyres (low profile - when all I want is something with a tyre wall), new battery, blah, blah etc.

They're a bit fancy these cars aren't they!

Thanks in advance for any ideas re exhaust back box.

It's so nice to have found this site.

Regards

Mercious

Hello and Welcome from Me too :thumb:

I'm trying to thank you and ask other questions but I can't get my head round the site yet.

I keep on posting after logging in only to be told i'm not logged in!

Here's my other question:

Where does my car originate from?

Here's the start of the chassis number as on V 5 and inside car screen:

SABTVR037

Bedford Mercedes Benz are baffled.

The car did have the cat D in 2003 so it might be two cars. It might be four cars. Frightening!

That sounds odd. I believe that the chassis / VIN should start WDB (or WDC).

230K welded mine two and a half years ago...still going strong and passed 3 MOTs.

That's not a Merc VIN. Yours should start 210226...........

I've just logged in, written a long reply and lost it all because the site can't handle a ten-minute reply.

"refresh the page and log in again"

This, after I've logged in.

What a crazy situation.

It's as though they don't want you to have any success.

Anyway, forget it!

Your vin no is on the passenger side front screen ?

I'm very wary of even writing anything now because it will probably all get lost.

I know where the VIN is and I found out it was a DVLA Reshelled VIN.

I'll send this and just do little posts before I get locked out again.

So much to say and the threat of being silenced by the logging in again thing.

What's the way of getting round this 'time out' thing?

I guess the way round it is to use the 'post reply' and not the 'quick reply'.

Excuse the outburst.

Just log in then use the browser "back" button to get back to your ramblings, then click "submit".
