E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Estate in INDIGOLITE BLUE METALLIC
HI All, I am Gareth. I have recently got myself a E350 Cdi BlueEfficiency Estate 2011.
I used to have a 190E long time ago, then an A Class and C Class as company cars.
I don't have any issues with the car, just that it is in need of a service.
Had some really outrageous service quote from a MB Specialist.
So will do a lot of the work myself.
trying to find the correct pollen filter part number. seen a few different ones with different sizes all saying they will fit. and help be great full to get the correct parts.

Hey welcome aboard. Can't help with the filter but am sure someone will. You have good taste (e350 and 190e) 👍
Thanks.
I do miss my old 190E.
the E350 is silky smooth.. I have to resist pushing the throttle too hard LOL. otherwise it will drink drink drink.. LOL.

Have you tried taking the old filter out to find a part number to help in buying a replacement?

What sort of (real brim to brim) mpg do you get out if curiosity?
I can't say Brim to Brim at this time, only had the car 1 week. But on a long run at the weekend to the coast and back I got Approx 36mpg, but I was doing my best driving miss daisy impression :)
Once I have done a bit more driving and can calculate the actual figures I will let you know.
Ive some long drives planned soon so will know better, and the car will be fully loaded, 5 people and luggage.
Maybe once I have done the service, it will improve a bit.

No I have not crawled under and taken all apart to get the number.
That I will have to do if get no joy..
Can you buy service parts from Mercedes? as they should know from the VIN number?

On a very gentle run of more than 30 mins out of town, over 50mpg is easily achievable. If you are getting 36, something seems wrong. Thermostat, air filter, oil change (gearbox and engine). I'd get fault codes scanned asap to check if anything is revealed there.

Welcome to the forum .

I have the same year, class and engine, so I approve of your choice.

Try eBay, search for Mercedes Newcastle or Mercedes Edinburgh, both have eBay shops and reasonable prices.

It needs a B Service, Fuel filter etc... had a quote of 550+VAT from a Specialist.
That seems to be a bit on the high Side?

I can do all the Air filters and Fuel Filter etc myself. just can't get under the car to do the oil change. (Sloping Driveway)
I know that will sort it out.
But finding someone to do the Oil and oil filter, with me buying the parts is a nightmare.. no garage will do it.
Only thing would be to find a ramp a rent.
Or get someone like Halfords to do the oil and filter, and I do the rest.

Most owners are reporting high 30s mpg on the Honest John Real mpg website, so the OP's mpg sounds right.

(Perhaps your trip computer is optimistic, or you're driving is very gentle with not much stop start.)

So I seem to be on the money so to speak according to HJ.
Ive had the car 1 week, it needs a really good Service anyway, so maybe able to wring out a few more MPG.
normally I only drive about 10miles a day at moment. that will become 30+ a day once I get my car park space at the office.
will be A roads and City driving.
So weekends away and sometimes over to Europe. So early day with the car.. more I get used to it the better the MPG can be.

On a run out of town, 30-anything mpg is not right and you can squeeze something a few mpgs higher than that for sure

That's a trip computer readout. Brim to brim is the only reliable check to be fair.

When I calculate my mpg I use the online tool, at Fuel-economy.co.uk
Make sure you reset your trip counter, when you fill up.
at the next fill up note how many miles travelled, how much the per litre price is and how much it cost to fill up.
on the website go to the calculate real mpg section
enter the pence/litre, how much you spent, and the total miles you drove. click on calculate and it will tell you your real mpg, and how many gallons of fuel you used.
convert your gallons used to litres and see if you are using all of the fuel, you could be able to get a few more miles out of the car before refuelling.

but as I have not even used half a tank of diesel yet I am far away from giving any accurate MPG figures. and I did not reset the counters.
So mid 30s is only a guesstimate at the moment.

So I will see later on once I have used the car a lot more, and can do some accurate calculations...

I'd be very happy with mid 30's !!
