Buy a used MERCEDES-BENZ CLK Car - Auto Trader UK

THE SILVER ONE
(and no, thats not my post code...)

Still convincing myself that I'm not looking, but browsing with a colleague who is, I ended up looking at the above

Spec and kit, to me, look great, (and I need a sunroof which it has.. I must be claustraphobic) but for me, this is too many miles.

But in terms of spec, year (hey, even the price) this is what I would jump ship for.

Question -

Did MB add these on any limited editions that I should look out for, or would this have been customer spec - or even a personally 'modded' car?

Pity - but I am not into high milers (my loss probably), so with 40k or so on it (and another £2k perhaps) I could be tempted.;)

The annual mileage rate implies plenty of long trips, which couldn't be better for the car.

They occasionally do special editions , but this will have been built to order.

92k is nothing for a CDi. Just go for it.

ha! my cars at 206k and the other at 176k

just bought another car a week ago at 90k - no concerns

as others, 90k is nothing. from your post i was expecting 200k+

the 90,000 is just a digitial number on the dashboard and doesnt really mean a lot. you could buy one with 30k on the clock that is a dog compared to the 90k one just as easily!

I agree that 92k miles isn't of great concern on a modern MB that's been looked after.

However, there's no denying the impact that such a mileage has on the resale value and desirability of the car. No point buying a high-ish miler unless it's cheap enough.

Like it or not - low mileage cars are worth more, because people prefer them and are willing to pay more for the privilege.

Buying high mileage young cars can be good financially if:

You're doing very low mileage yourself and are keeping the car for a while - the mileage could even out over a few years (say 60-75k on a three year old car, keep it another 3-6 years adding 5k a year on it, will then be a 6-9 year old car with 75-90k etc).

Or - if you're going to be doing huge mileage - whatever you buy will lose loads so might as well start with a cheaper, higher mileage car in the first place and keep it for a fair while. The difference between 150/200/250k miles and a few years old won't make much odds once it's a few years old.

IMHO :)

Its the rest of the car I am questioning

From what little you can actually see, bodywork looks okay, but at these miles, seats, suspension, and other bits that wear out tend to (yes/no?)
Drivers seat looks a little worn, but that can be refreshed...

Its really wetted my appetite but unless my boss gives me some unexpected (positve) news next week, finding the extra over mine is too much at the mo.

But if he did.....

So whilst on the subject, the engine has sat on our motorways for several hours a day, most days probably around 2000rpm - so yes, probably isn't stressed.

Would, assuming FULL service and repairs history, there be anything that upto 100k is scheduled in, that I could pick up a big bill for a few weeks after getting it - IF - I did, or any other high miling CLK CDI?

Might just get me into a high miler if I learnt more.....
