Car
Lots of Mercedes!
Well i nearly creamed my pants when i came across this...

Looking at the photos more closely reveals that some of the AMG trim is badly fitted and not sure how the colour of the interior wood has been achieved...

Ohterwise looks a lovely car and if I didnt have mine I would definately be viewing this car with a serious intent to buy.

The widebody kit and the correct wheels set it off beautifully..

So much potential

Must be a desperate sell to let it go with the plate.. looks like general wear and tear on the interior drivers seat...

yes i will have a chat with the owner tomorrow... you would have to be have a good reason to be selling something like that...

The way it is worded, I think the seller is a dealer.

How much do you think it is worth ?

That is very very smart, like the wood,

Interesting plate also..

Will watch that, tempted...even though I just DON'T need another car

Wow that does look cracking, a very rare set of period alloys too, dont see many with those alloys.

not sure how the colour of the interior wood has been achieved...

I guessing its been achieved the same way Malcoms was in his SL500, looks like a piano black finish to me.

Looks good, although as Jay mentioned it's a cosmetic AMG only, so not original factory.

The interior has had a retrim at some point in it's life and I do like the dark wood.

I'm getting mine produced in Piano Black Lacquer when I finally get around to having it done.

Nice colour though, the grey really works, shame the badges aren't in the right position.

To me the most attractive part is the widebody... but studying the pictures im not sure how well its been done.. Will have a chat with the owner and will report back.. No answer this morning.

Value? who could say but anything up to 8-10K is ok if its as good as it looks... if it turns out to be rough around the edges like most are then its only worth 6-7K, and thats only because it has the correct period kit on it.

Is it just the way the advert is worded but when I read
"This auction is for the sale of the car not to view it, so please ask any questions you may have before the end of bidding" it really puts me off, as it implies that the car is not available for viewing.

Or is he saying don't bid if you have any intention of pulling out of the deal after the end of the auction?

He does say that you are welcome to view the car during the Auction

AAAh!.......should have read more carefully....I've deleted my post

£8225.. this car is fetching strong money already... if it had gone for less than 8 I would have bought it for a 2nd SEC but its too much now.

I have been looking through what I have spent on my SEC and a lot is to get the car perfect mechanically and cosmetically.

The way I see it, I would be just as fussy and so would still have the same/similar expenses again on this car and so makes no sense at all.

Its a shame for 'sence'

otherwise most of us would bid.

I'm tempted and there is no way I need it, it just looks great and I remember my dad having one years ago when almost new (a 500SEC though) also had a friend with a 560SEC at the time with suede? (alcantara) type seats (think this was an option even over leather?)

Dad love it, remember going up the Hardnott pass in cumbria and having stopped we needed to get going again...

Wheel spin and black smoke :) also feels very wide in the narrow lanes...

Jay did you manage to have a word with the owner ?

yes i did finally.. today.

Basically he says the bumpers dont sit flush due to poor fitting of the kit and the wings have some rust.

Car was imported from germany in 1995 and he has owned since then.

He has done nothing to the car apart from routine maintenance. Even the black wood came like that from Germany.

What he wants for the car, i would consider as high, but its very tempting to me as I love SEC's and one with this kit may never be offered again.
Saying that, its not impossible to source a widebody kit.

The seller seems genuine, he just says maintenance, insurance, tax, storage etc is costing too much for the use it gets. He says its only really been "turned over" in the last few years, hardly driven.
