Not exactly detailing but just had my SL valeted and machine polished in preparation for impending sale.

I think they've done rather a nice job.

Looks really good, but it begs the question ......"for impending sale". No offence meant, but does this mean you didn't keep it this nice during your ownership?

Ok, so how often do you machine polish your car(s)?

Meguiars Last Touch by hand after every wash, apply Poorboys White Diamond glaze with machine approx every two months, followed by either BH Autobalm wax if I have time, or Last Touch again.

Picked up lots of tips from Detailing World over the years, I am particular about how my cars look, my neighbours think I'm way OTT about them. If it was worth building the JZR, as it was, it's worth keeping it looking good.

So you machine polish six times a year. Surprised you have any paint left. By the way I think it took the guy about six hours to do the polishing. Physically I am unable to do that, but if I was I wouldn't.

The car is seventeen years old, I think it looks good.

The machine I have is a very basic 9" pad rotary, with no weight at all, the Poorboys is so easy to apply, even by hand. As it's done regularly, and clayed twice a year as well, it doesn't take very long at all. I'm actually looking for an alternative to the BH Autobalm, I posted to this effect in another thread last week, as it's not the easiest to work with, hence my saying I don't have time to use it every time.

I did say that your car looked good, Ian, regardless of age, I just couldn't understand why someone would have such a car, and only get it looking that good to sell it

It's not the first time it's looked that good. Incorrect assumption. It's the first time it's been done by a pro.

I can't remember the last time I machine polished a car for 6 hours lol. I'm restoring Elton a Johns Aston Martin Lagonda at the moment & the paint correction stage alone was exactly 35 hours alone which I finished today. There's still at least 20 hours left of detailing work to be done by Wednesday:eek:

I'm as OCD as they come and my work van gets clean 6 times a year and that's it. I admit each time I spend 5-6 days on it but I also just do not have the time in between clients cars and a single day is not long enough to clean a black van.

I've looked at the boot, there's no dent, it couldn't have been a heavy name:D
