lynall, is it a difficult job to do?
On Lynall's behalf , no walk in the park job if you have either a lifting frame or a good trolley jack and a 1 foot square piece of thich woodabout 2 inches will do.

Just one more question..... how would you know i.e. symptoms, if engine and/or gearbox mounts need replacing?

Mine were quite easy, basically jack the car up, stick it on stands lower jack get Ians piece of wood under the sump jack one side of engine, loosen bolts that side jack engine remove mount, fart about lining bolts up lower engine back down and tighten bolts, repeat on other side.

I woke up went outside looked at the sky and thought yep it will be okay, once first mount in my hand the heavens opened, had to keep going as i was doing it on the side of the road so couldnt leave my tools out.

I got wet in place that only get wet when i have a shower:D

Mine had been weak for some time engine rocked roughly at idle also jerked when going from drive to reverse.

Symptoms of mine are, sometimes jerky on gear exchanges and there's a very noticeable resonant vibration at 1500-2000rpm.

Is that from the engine bay? I have that too but was thinking it was the exhaust?

Good point... you're right actually it could be.

Ever since i changed my diff and clutch at the same time there's been an occassional irritating metally rattle coming from the front of the car and there's this resonant vibration at 1500rpm.

I'm seeing Olly next week so hopefully its just some loose bolts or something, but even if its the mounts i wouldn't mind doing them... just as long as Nick as the parts since from MB i think they can be a bit pricey :D

Guess he's just ignoring me then... i did call/text/pm him but i'm not getting anywhere so i guess its down to the dealers for me :wallbash:

Ok time to fess up. When I posted about it going to rain I actually had no idea at all - it was a bit of a joke and I had intended to follow up with another post saying only kidding - then I saw that the forecast was for rain.......:):):)

I did mine like Lynall on the side of the road, its not difficult. Got mine from Franey here, good price he got for parts :thumb:
I changed the gearbox mount as well. :)
