Hi,

I Left my car at the airport whilst on holiday for 2 weeks, prior to this I had the same faults a couple of weeks earlier which the indie managed to reset, the car started fine last night, I drove about a mile down the road and bang, the dash lit up with all kinds of errors, ESP SRS, ABS, etc etc.

When I took it to the indie last time, they couldn't communicate with the car but after a bit of jiggery pokery they managed to reset and reboot all the modules and the faults dissapeared, and it's been fine up until last night at the airport.

I have loads of ESP/ABS errors on the dash, the brake hold is inoperative, the cruise control inoperative and the engine fan is running constantly with the engine running, also I normally keep my lights on "Auto" but last night the car told me to turn my lights off which is a first.

Anyone had this happen to them, and what did you find?

Cheers

Derek

Brake light switch is a possibility and easy and cheap DIY. About a tenner for a switch from your local motor factors.
Also possible is the sensor ring at the steering wheel. Forgot what it's called. Had a similar problem with my CLS55.

If it is the brake switch then the dash will only light up when the brake pedal is pressed. If it lights up at key-on with foot off brake pedal then it's something else. If it waits until rolling at 5+ mph then probably an ABS ring corroded/split. All generalities of course but you have to start the diagnosis somewhere.

Just an update, went out in the car yesterday and the only message showing was ABS fault, went to shops about 15 mins went to drive home and all the faults have gone, checked this morning and they are back again.

So a very intermittent fault here!

Leaving the car for 2 weeks is not going to cause this problem as I've had it before without leaving the car, also I have had the battery checked and it is fine, only 2 years old and still under 3 years warranty. I believe there is a wiring fault/bad connection to one of the modules as it is now so very intermittent.

cheers
