Hello,
my battery is apparently knackered (Unipart), I went to unipart last night who charge it for over 12 hours and the reading came as previously "non serviceable", apparently the battery is gone.
This is a year old battery with a 3 years warranty, but the receipt is not on my name and they refuse to change the battery.
Is the garantee not for the goods, and not the person?
Cheers.
Olivier

Depends on the precise wording of the "guarantee".
Some are transferable from one owner to the next. Some arent.

this is what I am trying to figure out, unipart says the garantee is only for the person who bought it (?), even if the battery as a 3 years garanty sticker on it and the date it was bought.

Is this a 'lifetime guarantee' or equivalent? If so it's likely to have the caveat 'for as long as you own the car'.

Small print needs checking.

It's a 3 years garantee

In that case, I am afraid you dont stand much chance of the guarantee being honoured unless of course the guy in the garage has a rare attack of wanting to do the right thing regardless.
But I wouldnt bet on it.
Good luck anyway.....

I once had a battery fail after just a year in service. Some do. Worth paying the extra for a good name like Bosch or Varta.

If I were you, Id ring their head office up and make a complaint. Regardless of who's name is on the reciept, the product is still under warranty.

I thought of it but I took it to the two only outlet in Edinburgh, the first one didn't have the facility to charge the battery (I know?) then they send me to the other, and they have been talking to each others.
Also I'm french and the name on the invoice is key martin, not too foreign :)
I could try in another city but they will take the battery for at least 12 hours, what will I do ?

On the phone now, they are calling the branch and will call me bak...

in that case, tell them you are changing it for an elderly friend who has been having problems, and that you are helping him out mate.

Got the call bak from the head office, going to pick up my new battery now :bannana:
It's amazing that they were not willing to change it even if guarenteed....

Happy weekend to all :D

Well done..............sense and perseverance prevails..........

Perseverance indeed. :D
New battery in the car now. :)
