I'm in Carlisle the now.

It struck a chord. I've got the last of the non blue efficiency CDi cars and the 5g.

So an old tech drivetrain that I went for purely as I thought it would be a reliable option.

Thise of you with blue efficiency cars.

I drive a little in city traffic then a steady 65mph down the M74. It's quite a hilly road with both up and downhill inclines.

The trip said 47.8mpg average 56mph (Glasgow traffic can slow things up)

It's averaged 42.3mpg over 7011 miles so....

C220 and 250 BE users? Do you do better, if so how much better?

Mines a late 2012 c220 with 2400 miles on the clock. On Monday I did a 150 mile trip from kings Lynn Norfolk to home in ashford Kent. It's a mix of A roads and motorway. I did an average of 61 miles an hour and 46.5mpg. Think in entire journey I only came to a complete stop for the stop start to kick in about 4 times so that technology did not have a real impact.

5200 miles from new in a 320d avg 52.2mpg with many forays in to 3 digits....

2001 c220cdi estate at the mo with 120k miles on it, averaging 48mpg, see 60 on a run all the time.
It was 33 and 38 on a run from the e350cdi BE.

Don't think we need to know what you have been doing with your digits

Already 5200 miles.

Crikey...

On topic that's very high given the driving manner and a lot better than my car

But this run is better than I could get, I'd see around 42mpg on that.

Iirc a saloon is more efficient so maybe a pre be saloon would nearly match it.

The drawback of 5g is the relatively high rpm in top gear at 60mph 1900rpm. But accereration is lively but Paul's BMW has mpg licked.

Hmm blue efficiency, just don't fancy owning or driving a car that includes a tank of piss on board :D

Only the blue tecs do that. Works well for emissions btw and been used in trucks without too many issues

First 350 miles in the car covered. I'm averaging 40.4 mpg on the daily grind and short runs to supermarket etc.

Had it recording over 50 mpg on one run to work.

Going down to York in April, 4 up with luggage, so that will be a decent benchmark for me.

I have seen as high as 70mpg over 30-40 miles of trundling at 65.... but i get bored.. yesterday saw 63mpg from manchester to southend leaving early - sans traffic... coming back was horrid - so only 51 however residents on the toll road may have seen a shooting star......

So how do you rate the 320d v the W204 250cdi? Were they both autos?

I'm a little bit disappointed with my consumption. But I suppose for a heavy 5 cyl 225 bhp auto car its not that bad. Have seen mid to high 40s on a run. But by god its comfy. Lol. :D

Yes the 250 was a 5g and chipped the 320d is standard but 8g.

I would take the latter everytime unless on the autobahn... when the sheer grunt of a chipped 250 is unstoppable.... easily over 160....

I'm in York now. Got 46mpg from Carliske to York this am.

I'd expect yours to do better than mine, more aerodynamic.

It's got the same torque as the old 320 V6 standard. Yours chipped would be 240bhp and 400ft lb. incredible

I would say its my biggest disappointment of my C250cdi after 4.5k miles over 4 months, I generally potter around town which does include morning and evening traffic but i never see more then 28/29 mpg from a full tank. Single trips in the morning can drop as low as 24 mpg.

Over a month this can include some steady 50 mph dual carriage ways and a road driving.

The same trips in my Manual 2006 Honda civic 2.2 CDTI would see an effortless 36/37 mpg!

I am hoping to see a massive increase with my impending euro trip.

Who did you remap on the 250? Positive experience?
