Apologies everyone, unless you've a Subscription the whole article won't be available to you?

Suffice it to say Mercedes, Audi & BMW fare the worst in tests that demonstrate official fuel consumption figures are, in their cases, the overstatement was
between 38 - 33%

In practice I'm not sure whether people buying car brands at that end if the market would in any way be influenced by fuel consumption figures?

As you say, the full article isn't available, though I don't think the result will come as a great surprise really. Manufacturers massaging figures? Surely not... :D

I get 38mpg out of mine. 21 from the Mercedes and 17 from the Jeep. Man maths at it's best there. :)

As a rule of thumb I always knock 25% off stated mpg to give me my real life motoring figures and it is usually there or thereabouts.

I have never looked at fuel economy when buying a car! And i never will.

Tony.

I drive a AMG... Fill up with petrol and drive... Screw the MPG figures :D
