no kick down on s320cdi 2001

code reader says P1189 and suggests inlet port shut off motor,can anyone help

Under the intake manifold is a motor and linkage. It's either jammed, faulty or come apart.

thanks dieselman i checked thelinkage seems ok, the lever on the moror is positioned to the right it si possible to move it to the left manualy but when i start the engine it moves back to the right. is this normal?

Kick down went on mine originally,(170 cdi) Mercedes insisted it was MAF sensor, which they replaced. However, that started a different problem.
