    Hi All,
Just a quick question on mileage coming up to a service. My car has about 650miles to go before the next B service. Service booked for thursday (6th), however, before then I am going to do just over 700 miles. What hapens when you go over the recommended miles? I've never let any of my cars go over. This is the first time. Just curious what the system does when you go over.
    Also - is a quote of £352, a good price for a B service (S211, 56K-miles). Methinks its an ok price :)

    Cheers

Nothing happens if you go over the mileage.

The price is very good - is that a Mercedes dealer? However expect them to call and tell you all sorts of other work needs doing.

I have been told its OK to go over the mileage by up to 1000 miles with no penalty.

And as far as the running of the car is concerned - all that happens is you get a flashing message saying the service is due.

Yup..that is what i was told as well..the 1000mile is the max you can go up to maintian warranty..
Also if you are member of the mercedes club(or just say you do), you get 10% off..after 3 years ownership, you qualify for the 4life program..when service done at same time at MOT, MOT is free..and service is 15% part, labour off..

so time is nice and you will have more in your wallet when the bill comes..

If it affects the warranty, do they make some kind of note in the service book to say the warranty is no longer valid because the service was overdue? For example, if I looked at a used car with a full service history, would there be any way of telling if any of the services were overdue?

Easy in the old days with fixed intervals, but my last car, which was used mainly on the motorway, requested a B service roughly every 18k, never an A. Also, the oil usually needed topping up between services, which seemed to add a few more thousand miles onto when the next service was due. There was nothing in the fully stamped service book to indicate whether the services were done on time or not.

They wrote "200 miles over" in the service book at my last service.

If you're so worried....buy a Fiesta and do the service yourself!!!! lol

You drive an MB, like most of us - therefore you should expect to pay more than £19.99 for your services!!!

There are many money saving tips on this forum inc buying your own oil, etc, go look and you will be suprised how much you can save.
It's so easy when they phone up and say 'so and so needs renewing' to say 'yes, go and do it' when there are many things you can actually do even if you're not that mechanically inclined!

    Good luck

True ... I had my last service and was told you need new discs and pads ..do you want us to do them .. asked for a quote and after falling over said its ok I'll do them. Got Olly to do them a lot cheaper.....

When talking to the guy at the desk - he fully understood why i was doing them elsewhere.

I drive a MB, so I should be happy to pay over £500 for an oil change & little else? I don't mind paying more for better quality & service, but MB take the pi$$.
