hi all, i have recently bought a 1999 c220 cdi and think its a great car but i have noticed that there is no turbo boost below 2000rpm, is this normal ?
ive had a few td cars and all of them have started boosting at around 1500rpm.
i might need to buy a tuning box to give it more power off the turbo.

i know ! but i wondered if anyone that uses this forum and doesnt go to the other forum would know what the problem could be .
the reply i got from you only states that your not sure but think that it should be boosting from 1500rpm but not sure.
just trying to get as much help as possible to diagnose the problem. :)
was really looking for help from people who know these models charecteristics.

My humblest apologies, I was referring to the post after mine from someone with the same engine, next time I won't bother.

Buy a sprintbooster
Many members on this forum have.

Probably the MAF sensor causing underfueling.

Might be worth checking the EGR valve and turbo actuator aren't sticking and the exhaust for excess back pressure due to blocked Cat.

The additional post 'elsewhere' is the O/P reaffirming their issue.

thanks for the help guys i will check all that in the morning when i do a oil change and replace the thermostat :)

i suspect a blocked cat. always affects turbo boost.

arnt there any partout there that make the turbo spool erlier?

either that or act like a 17 year old in a nova an rev harder!
