Good evening,

I have a 2004 S500 and I need some advice concerning a noise that comes after long drives only.

Actually, the noise comes from underneath the car (engine - transmission area). Noise is more noticeable when I stand near the front doors. The noise is not very noticeable under the hood.

Noise is not very loud but is noticeable. It sounds like engine running & ticking but louder than usual.

Noise only occurs at idle. And noise is not always there. Only comes after long drives.

Would be great if I can get some help on this issue.

Thanks,
Steven

is vehicle manual or auto.
If manual could be the clutch release bearing making a noise.

May only be a heat shield vibrating against something.

I don't think Merecedes ever sold a manual S500.

Not at this vintage anyway.

They sold manual 7 series and Jags so might have sold manual S500s once upon a time.

I have made a short video of how it sounds underneath the car. I do not hear anything serious but it seems that noise coming from underneath car is noisier than before.

Would be great to get some opinion. Thanks :)
