SL350 but miss my SL500
Hi there

My Benz has developed a noise when braking – when I apply the pedal I hear a brief squeaking noise emanating from somewhere around the back axle/diff. It doesn’t seem to affect braking and the car stops as you would expect, without veering off to a side. The brakes on my SL500 are hydraulic with all round calipers. The noise only lasts a split second when applying the pedal and doesn’t continue whilst under braking, this leads me to think it’s a hydraulic issue when first applying pressure? Can anyone help?

Thanks:dk:

Should have said, no warning lights or error messages are showing!

Hydraulic brakes? With calipers? What are they like?

Only kidding...we all have hydraulic brakes with callipers.

A squeak is fine.

Passengers screaming?

Seriously - brake pads need cleaning. Build up of brake dust.
I don't know if you have anti-sqweel shims or rubber-backed pads. Shims need some copper-ease, rubber not.

Not hydraulics, that would be spongy brakes, or pulling wildly to side, that sort of thing.
