Hi all. This isn't a Mercedes related question but I thought the mechanics amongst you may be able to confirm something for me. The propshaft on my Navara D40 double cab has started making a loud metallic click each time drive or reverse is selected, and sometimes whilst braking at a roundabout for example. It is worse if the vehicle is loaded. Two garages have looked at it and have said its something inside the propshaft, not the gearbox or the rear diff luckily. I always assumed the propshaft is what you see, a round tube with a u/j either end. Can anybody confirm there is something inside as well?
Cheers
Ade

Probably the UJ couplings are worn. Possible DIY not too expensive. You should be able to pull it about to check.

The uj's are both fine, no movement at all. The noise is coming from inside the prop somehow
