Nokia Phone Cradle 6230i wont work

I have been using my MB installed phone cradle for my old Nokia 6230 phone. All has worked well and now I have a phone upgrade to the Nokia 6230i. The phone looks identical and the cradle fittings are identicle. I have put it into the car cradle and the battery starts charging but the Command system wont recognise the phone "Please insert Phone" message.

Do I need a new cradle even though the phone is the same fitting? Is it a software issue on the Command system?
Any quick fixes or do I need to take the old lady into the workshop (and get stung for £200)

The phone has to be a certain version before it is recognized, it could be a coding of the new phone is all that is required.

If you get stuck, I do have a list of the versions

The 6230i requires a different cradle.

B67875832 - 6220, 6230 only
B67875846 - 6220, 6230 and 6230i

My wife's B-Class has the older cradle like yours as she has a 6230.

I got my 6230i cradle from eBay. New in box, about half the dealership price.

Theres a phone cradle search on my www.mercupgrades.com/ebay_search.html

Will find you the german ones aswell as UK, save loads.

Also, if you look at my uhicradles document, it has the part numbers - the one that supports 6230i is different to the previous one as High-Lo points out !

I got my 6230i cradle for £22 on ebay and it works no problems, I would not bye at full price from the dealer.

Yes just slide out the old and slide in the new! You have to hold down the release button on the old cradle when you remove it

Yup 2 seconds to fit, as above. You get instructions with it anyway.

Only buy a cradle from a dealer as a matter of last resort..I have bought two now from ebay - one for a 6310i for £15 and one for motorola V3 for £65.......


Still think the old 6310i were the dogs .
