If you remember I started a thread about my sons Alfa 156 and the fact that it wouldnt rev and was totally undrivable. Well today I have finally cured it! After much headscratching, a code reader, Alfa diag software and numerous suggestions from this forum I found that the CAT was blocked solid!!! I took the downpipe off earlier and, much to the annoyance of my neighbours on a sunny sunday afternoon,i found that the car would rev without problem. I then refitted it before i got lynched and split the exhaust behind the CAT. I could feel a restriction in the outlet so took the cat off and found this.
So after much shaking and digging with a screwdriver ,I ended up with this.
I have now refitted it and problem solved! Well not completely as my son needs to buy a new CAT, but we'll worry about that before MOT time. I'm now going for a well deserved pint!
