Am new to this forum,not particulary mechanically or electronically minded,but could do with some help.
Last Oct bought a 2002 ML 270 cdi auto,which looked like new inside and out ,and under the bonnet,It had a full service history,and all previous MOT Certs,and had only covered 42,000 from new. The day after I got the 270,it went into limp mode,and when I got home I switched off then tried to start it again,but it came up with starter error on the dash.When switched on all the dash was lit up,but not a thing happened when I turned the key.I managed to get the error switched off,and took it to a local Ind Merc dealer,who kept it three weeks,(there was another job to do on the central locking as well). He said he had changed thedriver authorisation module,and everything was okay.It worked fine for the next day,then the same problem reoccured,except this time it usually started in the morning when cold,but after it got warmed up,if you stopped,and switched off you got the same starter error message,and it would not start again until the car had stood for a few hours.I got the car back to him before Xmas,but he is now saying that it probably needs a new ECU unit. Has anyone got any ideas please
