Some great music , and whilst Wigan Casino was well known down South , Twisted Wheel in Manchester were about five years ahead of the game. I am old enough to remember the impact of Motown, Stax, Atlantic, etc ,in the early 60s, and the sudden domination of Soul in the charts ,taking many people of the time by surprise.
I remember having a discussion about musical tastes in 1970/71 with a mate of mine at the pub. He said "you will still love the same music when you are old". I disagreed , and said , no , my musical tastes keep changing. However , he was right ,as every friday night we have a game of cards, couple of beers at my place , and invariably play "the same old songs". And yes, some of my old mates still ride 60S scooters!
Look forward to seeing the film.

Just ordered the blueray on Amazon (£11 ) , along with Northern Soul 3/60 CD.
Who were your favourites?

I would say

. She'll Come Running Back - Mel Britt
I Just Can't Live My Life (Without You Babe) - Linda Jones
Hung Up On Your Love - The Montclairs (extended version)
Your Autumn Of Tomorrow - The Crow (big Brian Rae tune)

I shall compile a list of My personal top 20 Northern and crossover Modern soul.

Film and DVD both arrived today . Even got a credit from Amazon of £1.01 , for "pre-order price protection ". Ah well , thats Friday nights listening , and saturdays viewing taken care of.:thumb:

Went past the sight of the Twisted Wheel last time I was in Manchester. I had to scratch my head a bit before it came to mind what it actually was.

As a matter of complete indifference it is very close to the now "Gay Village" of Manchester.

Thought the film was okay , but not brilliant. Some great tracks on there .Just ordered a CD/DVD soundtrack package with 54 tracks , including 27 from the film, At £16.99 its also more expensive than the Blueray film.
