Northern Spring Meeting, 14 April 2019, Eden Camp, Malton, North Yorkshire

Hi everyone


We had a few Northern meetings in 2018 and hopefully we can have several more this year. What constitutes “Northern” is always debatable but I’m proposing we have the first meeting of the year at The Eden Camp located just outside of Malton, North Yorkshire. There is plenty to see and its a great family venue if you want to bring along the kids (if you have any). The price for admission will be £9.50 for a car and driver , if there are passengers the price is £15 per car. This is a group reduction on the regular admission pricing. I have checked with the staff and another car club is booked in on the 14th , Tameside Car Collectors . Having spoken with their organiser I’m advised they will probably have 10 cars there which should add a bit of extra 4 wheel interest.

In the afternoon there will be a drive out over the North Yorkshire Moors to the Lion Inn , Blakey Ridge, where those who want to can get a meal. I will need to reserve tables so please indicate if you want to eat.

I would suggest arriving for 10am when Eden Camp opens and departing at 2pm for those who wish to drive to The Lion Inn. The route will be via Pickering, Fylingdales, Slights, Scaling Dam and Castleton to arrive around 3pm.

I will also put the event on the AMG Private Lounge site for people who aren’t on here. As always everyone is welcome no matter what you’re driving. The only proviso is that if we get sufficient numbers (over 20) AMG PL members signing up and there are AMG goodies provided these will be given to AMG PL members first. Any left over will be allocated to non AMG PL members based on the order people sign up to attend.

Please spread the word to other MB owners who may not be on this forum. It will be great to meet up with old friends, and even better to have some new enthusiasts join us.

Glad you’re thinking of making the trip “Up North”

Not sure on the best place to recommend, if you are making a weekend of it York is less than 30 minutes away. Alternatively Malton is very nice as is Pickering and Helmsley all close. I’m sure someone from the York area will be able to give some recommendations.

Hi MissyD, There is a Holiday Inn express YO32 9TE on Malton road, which would possibly work for you its as you are going out of York on the outer ring road and on the right side of York for Eden camp only 15-20 minutes away, have a look if not suitable ill come up with something else, there is loads to choose from

A few regular posters (Dave , Steve) have stayed in The York area for previous meetings , I’m sure they will be able to give some advice when they see your question.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve looked at this and as Dave has said it’s a really good location to get to Eden Camp , on. A Sunday morning probably 15 minutes maximum. I’m not sure if Dave and Steve stopped here last year.

The black Swann at Helmsley is a good place to stay,had a few nice weekends there and is about 30 mins from Malton.

Proposed route for the drive out to the Lion Inn. Only a couple of major junctions to negotiate so we should be able to keep everyone together quite easily
