First time dealing with Merc and not a great start.

Contacted Brooklands yesterday morning to arrange a test drive this Sunday.

They said they would get back to me to get the cars to arrange and see no problem.

So far no comms back from them. Should have told me something before the weekend starts.

I am not calling them as they should be a little sharper I would have thought. Not sure how i feel handing my cash over if comms is like this.

To me this is the first test of how good you are.

If they are not performing as expected, I would highly recommend Tony Purslow Guildford/Basingstoke instead.

No offence, but Brooklands deal more in the big spenders buying black series, Maybachs etc. they probably can't be bothered with you.

Try a regular dealer and not a marketing office.

Thanks for that. I have put the Guildford branch number in me phone!

Going to give Brooklands till 12pm tomorrow to call me. If not they have lost a customer.

Maybe i am being a git... but surely they would give me a courtesy call at least on what's happening.

Other option is to deal with a different sales consultant.

You would have thought the sales consultant who i spoke to would get back though. Regardless of what i am buying. Just not very professional.

I rang three dealers before I ordered one didn't return my call, one did but was aside full as a chocolate fire guard the last went out of their way so got my money. I have dealt with a few different franchises over the years and if you get a good one they are usually really good.

Maybe this is a lesson. Just because the dealer is a 1 mile away doesn't mean they are the best!

Just expected a little more for some reason. A sale is a sale after all for them !

Actually a sale is not a sale. Without fianance, gap insurance, paintwork protection, with a trade in......etc.... dealer are much less interested in a cash sale. I'm a cash buyer, but no telling this until as near as possible to the price being agreed, otherwise I become a much less interesting sale.

I would be buying it on finance as well... but they haven't asked or don't even know this yet!

Quite annoyed really... was looking forward to a test drive. But the onus shouldn't be on me chasing the sales consultant.

It's his chance to flog off extras that bring him his commission !!

Next dealer **** them off.

I too was a cash buyer, but not with a Mercedes dealer. The company I dealt with specialised in sports cars - Porche, BMW, Mercedes etc. mostly class cars.
When I tried for a discount for paying cash with no trade in, I was informed that most of their profit was from PX, finance deals and add ons. Managed to get the price dropped by a measly £400.00.

Should i give Brooklands the benefit of the doubt (aka they forgot to get back to me with times etc) and call them in the morning?

Welcome to the world of **** dealers.

They're everywhere.

You just need to find one that isn't.

Personally, I wouldn't bother.

Surely the simplest thing in the world is to return a phone call and they can't even be bothered to do that...

If it was me, I would see what happens in the morning.

If they phone back and apologise for not returning a call when they said they would, and then arrange things, I'd probably give them the benefit of the doubt.

+1 - a holding phone call is easy to do. A place where the salesmen don't want to sell is a waste of your time. Go elsewhere.

Annoying that they are my local deal 5 mins away. Convenience for me is they are local...

Egits...

The way you are being treated is all too common.

You can either grit your teeth and ring them again or go elsewhere.

It can be particularly annoying if you want to buy from a specific dealer who is near to you. I had this with Tony Purslow Basingstoke when I had road tested the S211 320cdi there, thought about it for a day or two then rang up to order it. They would not ring me back so I ordered it from Merc Guildford (which was not then Tony Purslow controlled).

It appears from reports on here that Tony Purslow have got their act together more but you can't legislate for the odd lazy g*t salesman.

Odd really isn't it. They must be so up their own **** that they do jack all work really.

As my last post I would wring the next nearest and explain that brook lands haven't called you back can they help. If they call back in the mean time you will have some options. :-)

Doesn't matter at all. My local dealer said they would not discount as they could sell all their AMG cars at list, Brighton did a deal and then called me back to say they had changed their minds. Tonbridge would not even honour the offer on the Merc website. Birmingham came back with around 15% off.

So I spent £20 on train fare and had a nice drive back on a beautiful sunny day.

When it breaks down, take it back to Brooklands....
