Came across this W124 Coupe with AMG Kit last weekend. Thought I would keep it to myself for a while as I was going to purchase it!! But keen to know the panel's view on this now...
After speaking with the dealer he informs me there is no service history, For the money it still looks attractive. But the running costs for 2 cars is just too much of a financial strain for me right now.
A couple of questions:
The bottom of the car (skirts and bumpers) are a different shade of silver. If the bodykit was factory AMG, am i right in saying it it should have been the same colour as the upper body? As most W124s with AMG/Carat bodys i have seen are all the same colour. Looks to me as if someone has put the kit on and instead of respraying the bottom half same colour as the top, they have had the kit sprayed the same colour.
Also, does anyone know what wheels they are?

Oh yeah and the link of course:

The "blending" of the rear wing into the spolier looks like it may be a bit of a bodge - there is a line in the paint there. It looks quite smart but I doubt it is a factory AMG.

That's quite a good eye you've got there. I thought all ducktail spoilers for W124's were like that, as I thought they mounted onto the wings in line with the bootlid.

does look nice, i like the colour, but then again it could have done half a million miles, couldnt it?Armrest looks very worn...

220's a touch underpowered imho. Watch out for a rattly heat shield, I've had 3 x 220's, all been the same :(

John

How did you refix the heatshield as a matter of interest ?

Don't the cats rattle on late W124s/early W202s with the M111 engines?
Will

If that has done 93k I am a banana...

ineffectively on all 3 i'm afraid, with big jubilee clips. didnt want to take the shields off.....and they were a fortune to replace as came with the pipes....

Wouldnt touch it with a 100ft pole.

There is no-way that has done the mileage stated, there is a reason service history isnt available usually.

Check it on the VOSA MOT history thing or do an HPI with an NMR check.
