Hi folks - Turns out I've actually been a member of the forum for over 15 years... When I sought advice regarding a potential purchase of a W124

Mercedes E320 CE - Buying Advice?

As it transpired, the purchase of an E320 never happened - I got an uber-cheap lease deal on a Renault Avantime of all things, and wafted around in the 3.0 V6 auto version for a whole £199 pcm inc. VAT.

I've owned various things since, from an S1 Elise to a MINI JCW, but laterally been running around in an LCI 2010 320D Touring.

I've recently changed job, negating my need to commute via car - I can walk to the office in under ten minutes.

My primary usage will now be a 230 mile motorway round-trip I'll be making every 2-3 weeks, which led me to chopping in my BMW and buying this last week:

It's a 2007 model, 98k on the clock with a few choice options - AMG kit & wheels, with Distronic Plus, Multicontour Seats, Keyless Go, Wood Steering wheel, Linguatronic etc

Bought it from a chap near Reading - Had been through Star Motor Services a couple of times, most recently for the 7G Tronic fix & gearbox oil & filter change.

Enjoyed the 6.5 hour drive back up to Stirling, but the car will ultimately reside in Aberdeen.

This leads me to a few initial queries:

Can anyone recommend a good specialist in Aberdeen for servicing / coding etc? (Happy to travel to the central belt of there's no real stand-out options).

Unfortunately the Distronic is non-functional - It's had a replacement sensor, which it looks like Star in Reading coded to the car, but apparently it needs calibrated. I think I read that MB Milton Keynes have the only calibration tool in the UK, so is my sole option an expensive trip to the main dealer?!

The massage function on the seats isn't working due to a leak - Can anyone point me in the direction of a DIY repair guide?

Lovely looking car! I love the W216 and undoubtedly it will be one of my next cars. Only thing I can spot is the wheels look like they would benefit from a refurb :)
Enjoy!

Hard not to like a Mercedes Coupé.

It’s best to raise your queries in the forum, as people just do the intro in here.

Thanks folks - I'll post my queries in there

Amusingly, the vendor did mention the need for a wheel refurb, but recommended I drive / try parking the car for a few months before I do so, as he did the bulk of the damage to them within the first 3 months of ownership, while he got used to the sheer width of the thing!

You can set the passenger side mirror to move down slightly when in reverse so you can see the kerb. :)

Let me know when the time comes to sell :) I’ll be looking for one in a few years once I don’t need to do so many miles :)
