Hi all, I have a March 2016 C220 Sport (though built I believe in Sept 2015) I get mixed messages that a, there is a recall and these will be replaced free of charge along with a firmware update, b, if you have a Merc warranty they are covered under the used warranty or c, it’s a pay in full job at around £1200.

Any advice will be appreciated

Regards,

Kevin

There is a firmware update to the engine management for the NOx sensor issue which Mercedes supply free during the next service. I've read reports that Mercedes for replace the sensors free if the firmware update is applied and they fail, but most people seem to get the update and have no issues.

I had the update done two months ago to my 2016 c220d and is run perfectly since. Better fuel economy and performance as good as before.

So, if drop your dealer a note and get them to apply the fix. If it's been serviced in the last 9 months is probably already been done.

As I said in another post, I'm not naive and an sure Mercedes will need a bit of prodding if the nox sensors fail, but you haven't really got a keg to stand on if you refuse the update.

Fingers crossed.

Matthew
